    摘要: The present application relates to a locking apparatus for locking axial ends of first and second drilling rig components in a connected state, the connected state established by sufficiently rotating the first drilling rig component relative to the second drilling rig component in a first direction. The apparatus includes a first locking means that enables the first and second drilling rig components to be locked in their connected state by causing, during rotation of the first drilling rig component in the first direction, the locking apparatus to engage with the first drilling rig component in a configuration that prevents the first drilling rig component from rotating in a direction opposite to the first direction. The apparatus further includes a second locking means that enables the locking apparatus to be prevented from rotation relative to the second drilling rig component, including during rotation of the first drilling rig component in the first direction, the locking apparatus thereby preventing relative rotation between the first and second drilling rig components.

The system also includes a retention fastener securing the key to the first tubular, the retention fastener being arranged within an elongated aperture extending through the key. The system further includes an installation fastener moving the key from a storage configuration when in a first position to an engaged configuration when in a second position, the installation fastener having a tapered face that engages at least a portion of the key. The system also includes teeth arranged along a bottom portion of the key, proximate the second tubular, the teeth engaging the second tubular via rotation of the key about the retention fastener and blocking rotation of the first tubular relative to the second tubular in a first direction.

    摘要: There is disclosed a torque transfer apparatus for a mineral drilling tool used in a downhole assembly of a drill string. The drilling tool has a downhole drill bit and one or more uphole drill bits spaced apart from the downhole drill bit, with the torque transfer apparatus being located between them. The apparatus has an axial bore therethrough for fluid flow and comprises first and second members being rotatably joined to each other. The apparatus rotationally couples and transfers torque between the first and second members when a torque difference between torque on the downhole drill bit and torque on the uphole drill bit is below a threshold torque value. The apparatus disengages the rotational coupling while the torque difference exceeds the threshold torque value. The flow rate of drilling fluid flowing through the axial bore is altered when the apparatus engages and disengages the coupling.

    摘要: Self locking couplers, methods to couple adjacent tubing sections, and self-locking coupling assemblies are presented. In one embodiment, the self-locking coupler includes a coupling shroud having an external interface proximate to a first end of the coupling shroud and a set of collet fingers that extends from the first end of the coupling shroud. The self-locking coupler also includes a locking sleeve having an internal interface that complements the external interface of the coupling shroud. The locking sleeve is movable from a first position on the external interface to a second position on the external interface. As the locking sleeve moves from the first position to the second position, the locking sleeve compresses the set of collet fingers into a cavity of a first seal ring coupled to a first tubing section to secure the coupling shroud to the first tubing section.
