摘要： A cartridge for a kinetic energy projectile, where the projectile has a deter of less than a gun bore diameter and the projectile is saboted in order to support and guide the projectile along the gun bore. The sabot 42 has a closing disk 48 which radially extends from the projectile or penetrator 41 to the internal diameter of the gun bore. The closing disk is positioned on the penetrator at a location spaced from an open end 14 of a cartridge case 49. A shell 13 extends from the closing disk to the open end 14 of the cartridge case. The shell 13 is positioned adjacent the internal diameter of the gun bore, and the shell 13 along with the sabot defines a sabot volume. The sabot volume along with the volume defined by the cartridge case is filled with propellant.

摘要： A drive member for the projectile head of a large caliber, multi-purpose cartridge or a multi-purpose training cartridge, wherein a threaded connection is provided for the form-locking connection between the drive member and the projectile head. In order to give such multi-purpose cartridges or corresponding multi-purpose training cartridges a modular configuration, with their assembly taking place only at their location of use, the drive member is provided with radial bores that start at its outer edge or periphery at its end facing the projectile head. Before joining the projectile head and the drive member, a holding and clamping device is then introduced into these bores so as to securely hold the drive member when the respective projectile head is screwed to the drive member.

摘要： A cartridge assembly is provided, in one embodiment, comprising a combustible casing with an open forward end and an open breach end, enclosed at the breech end by a thin metal stub casing, a projectile assembly mounted in the forward end, an igniter assembly, a resilient obturator pop riveted to the casing, and annular sabot, and a plurality of flexible combustible priming tubes immersed in a propellant charge and extending the length of the casing. In another embodiment, the combustible casing comprises two separate casings joined together with fasteners, each casing having a set of flexible combustible priming tubes, an interface portion defined between the two where respective ends of combustible priming tubes abut. In both embodiments, the priming tubes combust rapidly producing complete ignition of the propellant charge and resultant stable projectile flight.

摘要： A gas actuated cartridge, which is smokeless, flashless and noiseless in ration, contains a novel pusher cup of elastic material, such as butyl rubber. The pusher cup is folded back within itself and contains an exterior annular flange which fits into a groove in the bore of the cartridge case. A closure plug containing the propellant charge is threadably attached to the bore of the cartridge case and engages the interior of the cup in the flange portion to seal and anchor the cup in the bore. The elastic cup can propel a projectile by the unfolding action of the cup, and expands without rupture to contain the propellant gases and contracts when the volume of the gases reduces on cooling, whereby the cup shrinks back from the wall of the gun barrel and, hence, can be readily removed from the barrel.

摘要： A novel cartridge possesses a fin-stabilized, high velocity projectile attached to a propellant casing, which is selfobturating and expelled from the weapon together with the projectile and separated from the latter on muzzle exit. The projectile is located such that its finned end is within the casing and its front end projects beyond the closed front end of the casing which has a ventable closure at its breech end. Sabot means are removably mounted on the projecting part of the projectile such that they abut against the front end of the casing and are thrown off by aerodynamic forces and centrifugal force of low spin generated by engagement of the casing with the rifling.

摘要： A dispense for dispensing an adhesive onto a remote surface, such as a case mouth and primer ammunition. The dispense includes a reservoir containing an adhesive; a positive displacement pump; and a nozzle having a tapered tip. The positive displacement pump delivers a predetermined amount of the adhesive, preferably an anaerobic adhesive, from the reservoir to the nozzle at predetermined intervals. The nozzle discharges the predetermined amount of adhesive through the air and at least 1/16-inch onto the remote surface.

摘要： An ammunition system and associated ammunition for firearms, particularly for muzzleloader firearms, having a predetermined amount of propellant charge housed in a casing, and a separate projectile having a sabot. The casing has a cap sealing the casing muzzle end such that the cap and the sabot provide seals to trap propellant gases within the barrel behind the projectile upon firing. The cap top end and sabot bottom end interlock in mechanical communication with one another upon firing allowing the projectile exiting the barrel muzzle end to be responsive to the barrel rifling. The barrel breech end has a chamber bushing for receiving the casing and a tapered muzzle end to prohibit the projectile from entering the casing.

摘要： An apparatus and method relating to a cased telescoped ammunition assembly configured to be fired from a firing device. Under one aspect of the invention, a cased telescoped ammunition assembly includes a combustible case body and noncombustible end caps connected to opposing ends of the case body. The case body is configured to be substantially consumed in combustion when the ammunition assembly is fired. An internal support structure is positioned in the interior portion of the case body and connected to the end caps. The internal support structure and the end caps define a load-bearing unit that provides a load path substantially independent of the case body. The load-bearing unit is configured to react external loads, such that the combustible case body is substantially isolated from and does not react the external loads.

摘要： A cartridge case and cartridge arrangement and method in which a base is joined along an annular intermating chevron-shaped joint with a sleeve. In the illustrated and preferred embodiment the base is metal and the sleeve is glass-fiber-reinforced plastic. The case has a propellant, projectile, and a percussive primer. A plurality of circumferentially spaced vent holes are formed in the plastic sleeve along a portion of the chevron joint as an aid to reducing excessive interface friction loads at the chevron joint during firing of the cartridge. A less preferred modification and mode of practice of the invention is disclosed in which the base is formed of plastic material or a composite glass-plastic or other composite plastic material, and the sleeve is formed of metal. A further less preferred modification and mode of practice is disclosed in which both the sleeve and the base are formed of similar materials.
