摘要: Thermal probe (10) for a scanning thermal microscope (100), use, and process of manufacturing. The thermal probe (10) comprises a single-material (M1) thermal conducting body (12) consisting of a probe frame (14) ending in a probe tip (11). A bi-material (M1,M2) cantilever strip (13) is connected to the probe frame (14) in thermal communication with the probe tip (11). The cantilever strip (13) in unbended state lies in-plane (X,Z) with the probe tip (11). The cantilever strip (13) comprises layers of material (M1,M2) having different coefficients of thermal expansion configured to bend the cantilever strip (13) with respect to the single-material thermal conducting body (12) as a function of the heat exchange (H) between the probe tip (11) and the microscopic structure (2) for measuring heat exchange (H) with a sample interface (1) by means of measuring the bending of the cantilever strip (13).

摘要: A low current motor protector (10, 10′) has an oblong metal housing (12) defining a switch chamber and formed with an open end. The housing has opposing flange portions extending transversely from the open end. Spaced apart lid portions (18a, 18b; 18a′, 18b′) are received on and clamped to the flange portions with an electrically insulating gasket (16) having a central opening interposed between the housing and the lid parts. The lid parts are formed with a recessed ceramic heater seat disposed in the switch chamber having spaced apart contact shelves (18f) which receives a ceramic heater (20) which is maintained in place and provided with contact force by a spring clip (22, 22′) attached to one of the lid parts. In another embodiment a coil heater (30) is electrically connected between lid parts (28a, 28b) and is disposed in a recess formed by a dome configuration (28f). A thermostatic switch is mounted in the housing and has a movable electrical contact movable into and out of engagement with a stationary electrical contact on one of the lid parts.

摘要: A thermometer having a short cup-shaped housing, an arcuately slotted top and an open bottom, the thermometer being used for sensing temperature on the surface of objects or room ambient temperatures in the event said surface temperature approximates the room ambient temperature. Extending into the inside of the housing is a centrally located member. The inside end of a bi-metallic element is mounted inside the housing eccentrically with respect to the centrally located member. A free end of the bi-metallic element is provided with a flanged or headed pin which is adapted to be captured by and float within a channel or slot extending radially outwardly from the outer edge of the annular ring such that expansions and contractions of the bi-metallic element are transmitted to and produce rotation of the annular ring. The channel portion extending radially outwardly from the annular ring has a flag member affixed thereto which is adapted to traverse the arcuate slot in the housing and register against temperature indicia on the outside of the housing. The thermometer is surface mounted by means of either a centrally located magnet or a fastener located centrally of the housing and the annular ring.
