摘要: A collection apparatus for organizing paper-based transaction items collected at a store checkout comprises a housing including a front section, rear section, left side, right side, top region, and bottom region; and an interior of the housing that is constructed and arranged into three regions. Each region includes a cavity; a removable container positioned in each cavity; three slot-shaped openings in the front section. Each slot-shaped opening is aligned with an opening in a removable container for providing a path for the paper-based transaction items to the removable container. A sensor in each cavity or container senses the paper-based transaction items received via a slot-shaped opening into the container.

摘要: Systems and methods enable displaying an indication of traffic quality. The system retrieves keyword or other traffic data for at least one keyword associated with at least one search engine. The system compares the traffic data for a first time period to the traffic data for a second time period, according to one or more date ranges and other parameters selected by a user for each time period. As a result of the comparison, an indication of the traffic quality associated with a disparity between the first time period data and the second time period data, if any, is displayed.

摘要: In the present invention an optical decoding system employs a hand-held, optical probe scanner, for optically reading coded information from labels affixed to pieces of merchandise. The optically read code is converted into electrical energy and transmitted by a radio transmitter located within the probe to a local receiver for processing. The processed signals are then used to control a registering business machine such as a sales register, accounting machine, or other such device.

摘要: A method of controlling a light source of an optical reader mechanism wherein a light source generating a scanning light beam is essentially only placed into its operating condition during the time-span required for carrying out a scanning operation, during the remaining time it is controlled so as to assume a preparatory condition with reduced or interrupted power supply. The apparatus for carrying out the aforesaid method embodies a light source for generating the scanning light beam and a supply means associated with such light source. A control mechanism is provided for the supply means for regulating the respective operating and preparatory condition of the light source. The control mechanism has delivered thereto an input signal as a function of the throughpassage of an object through a reading zone of the reader mechanism.

摘要: A liquor dispenser and recorder means particularly adapted for use in dispensing liquors in public barrooms, wherein a plurality of containers holding various priced liquors are provided with outlet fixtures cooperable with a stationary fixture engaging means, such that each outlet fixture of each container is physically distinctively cooperable with the engaging fixture so as to energize means for dispensing liquor from the respective container and energize an individual counter with respect to the value of the liquor in the respective container. In various embodiments, the manner in which each outlet fixture is physically distinctively cooperable with the engaging fixture may take the form of a variable length which functions to actuate none or one or more switches associated with the fixture to provide the necessary digital information to select the appropriate counter, or circumferential grooves may be provided in the outlet fixtures to cooperate with reoriented switches such that the grooves and the lands or ridges between the grooves effect the actuation or non-actuation of the switches, or a circumferential groove configuration may be utilized in conjunction with light sources and a plurality of photo cells whereby light impinges on the photo cells in combinations providing the desired information. As a variant of the last described encoding means, the grooves may be replaced with reflective circumferential bands about the outlet fixtures positioned to reflect the light from the sources onto only certain of the photo cells to provide the desired information. Means are also provided for securing semi-permanent storage on magnetic or paper tape of the activity of a dispensing station, and, where a plurality of stations are utilized, scanning means are provided for integrating information from each station with additional, but related, digital information entered from a cash register to achieve a semi-permanent record of the complete activity of each station in conjunction with the encoded information from the variously configured outlet fixtures. The semipermanent record may then be processed by a general purpose computer on a scheduled basis to withdraw performance, inventory, cost, etc., information as may be desirable. A more extensive installation in which a plurality of stations and cash registers remote from one another, such as encountered in a large hotel with multiple bars, utilizes direct communication with a general purpose computer to obviate the necessity for preparing the intermediate semi-permanent record.

摘要: A plurality of actuators are disposed so that there is an actuator between each keyrow column of a cash register keyboard. Each actuator is journaled for longitudinal movement from a home position to a plurality of positions whereat successive lugs, carried by the actuator, are aligned with successive key, stems of the cash register; and for rotational movement following alignment of a lug with a keystem of the cash register, to coact with and move the keystem and the key associated therewith into an actuated condition. Each of the actuators is urged from its home position by a spring, but restrained against such movement due to the interaction between rack teeth carried by the actuator and a gear and cam assembly carried by an actuator shaft. As the actuator shaft is operated the cam rotates permitting rotation of its associated gear and longitudinal displacement of the rack due to the spring action. In response to an appropriate signal from a remote source a solenoid, associated with the actuator, is deenergized and teeth carried by a spring biased pawl engage teeth carried by the actuator to arrest movement of the actuator with the lug thereon aligned with the cash register keystem to be operated. The actuator shaft continues to move carrying with it the cam until an appropriate portion of the cam engages the actuator to rock same about its axis of displacement. The actuator lug now coacts with the keystem to depress same. Displacement of the actuator shaft furthermore effects displacement of a timing slide, formed with a plurality of apertures adapted, during movement of the slide, to be aligned with a source of illumination and a photocell such that a timing pulse is generated.

摘要: A process for encoding data and apparatus for recording and retrieving the same. The encoding is accomplished by depositing, on an area for each datum of said data, a first plurality of binarily-weighted ink components, whose presence or absence defines the significant value of a digit, and a second plurality of binarily-weighted ink components, whose presence or absence defines the order of the digit. The inks used photoluminesce in distinct narrow wavebands when subjected to ultraviolet radiation. The apparatus for retrieving the data includes a source of ultraviolet radiation for periodically illuminating a scanning zone to where the data to be read is moved. A scanning device is used to scan the scanning zone during the period when the ultraviolet radiation is on, so as to detect the fluoresence of those ink components which are present. Each datum may also be so shaped as to be human-readable. An optical system is used to direct the detected fluoresence to an array of light-responsive members. Each member of the array is responsive to the fluorescence of only one ink component, thereby registering the presence or absence of that particular ink component in the data. Successive passes by the scanning device repeatedly scan the data, which may be randomly oriented relative to the scanning zone. Conventional logic circuitry may be used to interpret the output of the array of light-responsive members.

摘要: A device for converting the value in a mechanical register, into electrical output signals. Tracks between each tooth of each gear of the register contain the value of the teeth in binary form. In setting the gears, the tracks are aligned to form a continuous track passing through all the gears of the register. A sensing finger which is connected to a photocell runs through this continuous track to convert the setting in the register gears to electrical output signals.

摘要: A device is disclosed in which an area through which data in a data field may pass, is imaged onto detectors of an image position detection device. The area image rotates and a data image therein is centered as soon as detected to rotate about its own center. Fine-position control maintains the rotating data in particular relation to readout detectors, scanning circular image tracks in the vicinity of at least one of the image position detectors.
