摘要: A single cell for a fuel cell includes a power generating unit and two separators that hold the power generating unit in between. Each separator includes a facing surface, which faces the power generating unit. Each facing surface includes groove passages and ribs. Each of the ribs includes a top wall portion, two side wall portions, and corner portions. The top wall portion is in contact with the power generating unit. The side wall portions are located at the opposite sides of the top wall portion. Each corner portion is located between the top wall portion and one of the side wall portions. A restricting portion is provided at a section of each corner portion that faces the groove passage. The restricting portion restricts the gas diffusion layer from sinking into the groove passage. The restricting portion is a conductive porous body.

摘要: In a fuel cell system, a first rubber seal is interposed between a top part of a first seal bead portion that is formed to protrude toward a first separator main body, and a membrane electrode assembly member. A method of low temperature starting of the fuel cell system includes: a warm-up step of warming up a fuel cell stack by introducing an oxygen containing gas discharged from a compressor, into a case interior space in a state in which a temperature of the oxygen containing gas is raised by causing the oxygen containing gas to flow through a pressure loss member; and an electrical power generating step of initiating generation of electrical power after completion of the warm-up step.

摘要: A heat and chemical resistant sealant for fuel cells that includes a fluoroelastomer sealant and a fluoroplastic gasket. The fluoroelastomer sealant is dispensed around a perimeter of a top surface of a bipolar plate. The compliant sealant conforms to surface imperfections of the bipolar plate. A fluoroplastic gasket is positioned over the fluoroelastomer sealant and bipolar plate. When compressed, the combination of the fluoroelastomer sealant and fluoroplastic gasket provide a reliable seal that can withstand the high operating temperatures of fuel cells.

摘要: A glass coating composition for a fuel cell gasket is described. The coating comprises: a glass component effective to form an alkaline solution in the presence of an equivalent amount of water by weight, a binder component, a liquid carrier which is greater than 50% by volume: water, and a retarder effective to inhibit hardening of the composition. The glass coating composition is particularly useful in fuel cell gaskets and provides improved resistance to solidification in an aqueous dispersion.

摘要: Provided is a manufacturing method of a fuel-cell single cell including a membrane-electrode assembly, an anode gas diffusion layer, a cathode gas diffusion layer, and a frame-shaped resin frame to which a peripheral edge portion of the membrane-electrode assembly is fixed. The method includes an adhesive application step of applying an adhesive by screen printing to a predetermined area of the resin frame while fixing the resin frame by suction, and a stacking step and a UV irradiation step of bonding together the resin frame to which the adhesive has been applied and the membrane-electrode assembly by the adhesive.

摘要: A method of selecting a thermoplastic-resin adhesive provided so as to be exposed to a fluid flow path of a power generation cell includes a load application step, an exposing step, a measurement step, and a selecting step. In the load application step, a compressive load is applied to a laminate body in a laminating direction thereof, the laminate body being formed by sandwiching an adhesive between a first resin film and a second resin film. In the exposing step, the laminate body is exposed to an environment heated to a predetermined temperature and humidified to a predetermined humidity. In the measurement step, a flow amount of the adhesive during the exposing step is measured. In the selecting step, the adhesive having the flow amount equal to or less than a predetermined amount is selected as an adhesive used for the power generation cell.
