    摘要: In the spark plug heat rating measurement method and system based on spark discharge current active heating, the spark plug is installed in a constant-temperature water jacket cooling chamber with a specific torque. A constant spark discharge current control module is connected to the high-voltage terminal of the spark plug, to provide real-time controlled discharge current to heat up the high-voltage central electrode of the spark plug. During the spark discharge process, the temperature change of the high-voltage central electrode and the surrounding ceramic insulator are measured by a temperature detection module and used to determine the heat rating of the spark plug. By real time adjusting the discharge current level of the spark plug, or providing a same amount of spark energy to the spark gap, the heat ratings of spark plugs with different ceramic insulation structures can be evaluated through the temperature changes during discharge or after discharge.

    摘要: A spark plug for an internal combustion engine includes insulating glass having a tubular shape, a central electrode including a tip protruding portion, a housing having a tubular shape, and a plug cover provided over an auxiliary combustion chamber. The plug cover is provided with injection holes through which the auxiliary combustion chamber communicates with the exterior. The central electrode includes a base material and a core material disposed inside the base material and having a higher thermal conductivity than the base material. The core material includes a large diameter portion and a small diameter portion continuously formed on a tip side of the large diameter portion. The small diameter portion has a smaller diameter than the large diameter portion, and includes, in a part of the small diameter portion in an axial direction, a small-diameter columnar portion having a constant diameter. At least a part of the small-diameter columnar portion is disposed further on the tip side of the spark plug than a tip of the insulating glass.

    摘要: An apparatus for igniting a fuel mixture provides an ignition system for generating a high-voltage ignition voltage, a circuit device comprising a circuit for superimposing a high-frequency signal on to the high-voltage ignition voltage, a spark plug in an engine block, and a transmission element having a high-voltage conductor which is guided in an insulation element. The high-voltage conductor is used for transmitting the ignition voltage, onto which the high-frequency signal has been superimposed, to the spark plug. Further provided is an electrically conducting shielding element which surrounds the high-voltage conductor in an electromagnetically shielding manner at least along one portion of the longitudinal axis of the high-voltage conductor. The shielding element is connected in an electrically conducting manner to a ground potential of the circuit device and establishes a connection between the ground potential of the circuit device and a ground electrode of the spark plug.

    摘要: A spark plug includes: a center electrode; an insulator having a through hole around a part of the center electrode; and a metal shell holding the insulator from an outer peripheral side thereof. The metal shell includes a shelf portion that projects radially inward. The insulator includes an engagement portion engaged with the shelf portion from the front side, and a front end portion at the front side with respect to a front end of the metal shell. The front end portion has an outer diameter larger than an inner diameter of the metal shell at the front side with respect to the shelf portion. The front end portion of the insulator has a diameter-enlarged portion at which a diameter of the through hole increases and which is spaced apart from an outer peripheral surface of the center electrode.

    摘要: A spark plug for internal combustion engines is provided which includes a porcelain insulator which is disposed inside a housing and extends outside a front end of the porcelain insulator. An annular ground electrode is secured to a front end portion of the housing. A pocket is created between a nose of the porcelain insulator and the housing. The housing has formed therein a plurality of vent holes which are located outside the ground electrode in a radial direction of the housing and communicate between the pocket and a combustion chamber of the engine. The vent holes include a first vent hole and a second vent hole which are different in opening area from each other, thereby enhancing scavenging of the pocket to ensure the stability of operation of the spark plug.

    摘要: An extruded insulator for a spark plug that is made in a manner that minimizes pores, relics and/or other defects in the insulator microstructure so that the overall dielectric strength or performance of the insulator is improved. The extruded insulator avoids many of the drawbacks associated with such defects, but also has a stepped internal bore for receiving a center electrode. In one embodiment, the extruded insulator is made with a method that uses a multi-phase extrusion process to extrude a ceramic paste around an elongated arbor and form an extruded section, and then removes the arbor from the extruded section to reveal a stepped internal bore.
