The exemplary connector has a main body with an interior passageway extending from a first end to a second end of the main body and a compressible portion at the second end of the main body, a compression member attachable to the second end of the optical fiber connector over the compressible portion, a optical connection portion disposed at least partially within the interior, and an outer housing disposed over the connection portion wherein the outer housing has an external shape mateable with a standard format optical coupling.
Abstract:
A board, for example a printed circuit board 10 for insertion into a telecommunication module in an insertion direction 100, the printed circuit board 10 comprising a substrate 20, having two major surfaces 92, 94, first and second conductive paths 30, arranged on a major surface of the substrate 20, for electrically contacting first and second resilient contact elements of a linearly-arranged row of resilient contact elements of the telecommunication module, wherein the first and second conductive paths 30 are arranged such that a contacting end 35 of each of the conductive paths 30 is located on a straight reference line 110 which is substantially perpendicular to the insertion direction 100, so that electrical connections between respective resilient contact elements and the respective conductive paths 30 are established at one single insertion depth. The substrate 20 is shaped such that mechanical engagement between parts 25 of the substrate 20 which are to engage mechanically with the first and second resilient contact elements, respectively, and respective resilient contact elements is completed at different insertion depths of the board into the telecommunication module.

A termination strip (1) for a telecommunications system comprises two opposed rows of contacts (13) along a first side (9) of the strip and two opposed rows of contacts (13) along an opposed second side (10) of the strip, a mounting mechanism (15) at each end of the strip by which the strip can be removably-mounted on a carrier (3) with the contacts on the first side accessible for connecting wires therewith. The termination strip also comprises wire-guiding elements (24, 29) on the exterior of the strip shaped to permit wires (30) connected to contacts on the first side to be held at one end, at least, of the strip thereby enabling the strip to be removed from the carrier, rotated about a central axis extending between the ends of the strip, and repositioned on the carrier with the contacts on the second side accessible for connecting wires therewith.
Abstract:
A switch module (10) in a distribution point, such as an MDF or a remote cabinet, in the field of telecommunications, has a plurality of paired contacts and a remotely controllable switch. At least one pair of in contacts (14) may be adapted to transmit an incoming signal. At least one first pair of service contacts (16.1) may be adapted to transmit a POTS, DSL or combined signal, and at least one further pair of service contacts (16.2, 16.3, 16.4) may be adapted to transmit a POTS, DSL, test, monitoring or combined signal. The number of pairs of in contacts (14) is less than the number of pairs of service contacts (16.1 to 16.4). The remotely controllable switch (12) may be adapted to selectively connect the contacts (14) with the service contacts (16.1, 16.2, 16.3, 16.4). A method of selectively connecting a subscriber line (18) with an exchange of a telecommunications carrier selected from two or more telecommunications carriers by remotely controlling a switch (12) of a switch module (10) in a distribution point, is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A functional module (10) in the field of telecommunications is fittable to a telecommunications module (12) and comprises outer edges (14, 16, 18, 20), corners (22) and an accessible contact area (24), at least one rigid step (26), projection (28) and/or recess (30, 68) being formed on at least one outer edge (18, 20) in an area other than the contact area (24) and at a distance from a corner (22).
Abstract:
