    Abstract: Specialized tape and tape-built articles help reduce problems such as load slippage, odd or varying load sizes, or the inconvenience of knots. A touch closure fastening means allows users to releasably fasten together different portions of the article. Example touch closure fastening means include hooks, mushroom heads, loops, a mat, or nanofibers. Some articles include a tape which is laned, striped, staggered, mottled, spiraled around a core, and/or braided; some include multiple tapes braided with one another. Some articles include suture material, polypropylene, nylon, or a para-aramid synthetic fiber in a tape substrate. Some articles include a grip strip to facilitate multigripping - not only does the article releasably fasten to itself, it also restricts movement of a load or other work piece.     Abstract: There is provided a fastener for engaging with a loop fabric, comprising a base having a front surface with a multiplicity of engaging projections. At least some of the engaging projections having a top surface end and an attached end. The at least some engaging projections top surface ends form an edge angle surrounding the projections. A mantle surface extending from the top surface end edge to the attached end. There is also provided a first method for forming a fastener, comprising: . providing a multiplicity of suitable polymer particles; . providing a base with a front surface; . providing a contact release surface of a suitable surface energy; . dispersing, on the contact release surface, the multiplicity of polymer particles thereby forming separate preform projections sitting on and projecting from the release surface to corresponding terminal ends; . transforming the polymer particles, dispersed on the contact release surface, into an at least semiliquid state of a suitable viscosity, at least some of said particles being in contact with the contact release surface for a time sufficient to transform into preform projections having contact edges influenced by the surface energies of the polymer particles and of the contact release surface; . contacting and fixing the front surface of the base with the terminal ends of at least some of the preform projections; . removing the base, thereby separating the preform projections fixed thereto, from the release surface; and . thereby forming engaging projections projecting from the front surface of the base.     Abstract: Fastener products having a multiplicity of fastener elements extending from a strip-form base, the base including first and second attachment members for attachment of a substrate therebetween, are formed by continuously introducing molten resin (53) to a gap defined adjacent a peripheral surface of a rotating mold roll (55). The resin (106) forms part of the strip-form base of the product at the peripheral mold roll surface and fills an array of fixed cavities (59) defined in the rotating mold roll (55) to form portions of the fastener elements as projections extending from a first side of the sheet-form base. While the resin is on the mold roll, a sheet material is introduced. In some embodiments, a spring section (105) is integrally molded with and extends laterally from a fastening section of the fastener product. The spring section (105) is formed by at least one undulation of the sheet form base that allows the spring section to stretch elastically in a lateral direction upon application of lateral tension to the fastening assembly.

    Abstract: Fastener products having a multiplicity of fastener elements extending from a strip-form base, the base including first and second attachment members for attachment of a substrate therebetween, are formed by continuously introducing molten resin to a gap defined adjacent a peripheral surface of a rotating mold roll. The resin forms part of the strip-form base of the product at the peripheral mold roll surface and fills an array of fixed cavities defined in the rotating mold roll to form portions of the fastener elements as projections extending from a first side of the sheet-form base. While the resin is on the mold roll, a sheet material is introduced. The sheet material is folded about a longitudinal fold line to form first and second overlapping fold portions and is introduced under conditions selected to cause the second fold poriton to become permanently bonded to resin of the base, while leaving the first fold portion remaining free to be subsequently unfolded from said second fold portion about said fold line. The resin is solidified and stripped from the peripheral surface of the mold roll by pulling the projections from their respective cavities. In some embodiments, a spring section is integrally molded with and extends laterally from a fastening section of the fastener product. The spring section is formed by at least one undulation of the sheet form base that allows the spring section to stretch elastically in a lateral direction upon application of lateral tension to the fastening assembly.
