Abstract:
Some embodiments include a kit for increasing endurance of a battery-powered unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) by incorporating flexible solar cells or applying flexible solar cells on a surface of a UAV or on a surface of a component of a UAV. The kit further include a power conditioning system configured to operate the solar cells within a desired power range and configured to provide power having a voltage compatible with an electrical system of the UAV.
Abstract:
A mold (200) for molding an injection molded article (100) comprises a mold cavity (220) with a non-symmetrical portion. At least one flow leader in the non-symmetrical portion of the cavity may produce a symmetrical flow boundary in a multilayer flow downstream of the non-symmetrical portion of the mold cavity. The at least one flow leader may be a plurality of flow leaders having a flow path length that differs from the flow path length of an adjacent flow leader by no more than about 15%. The multilayer flow comprising an inner layer, an outer layer, and an interior layer. Co-injection molding apparatus and methods that may use the foregoing mold are disclosed. Similarly, co-injection molded articles and containers that may result from the foregoing mold, apparatus, and methods are disclosed.
Abstract:
Exemplary embodiments provide devices, systems and methods that enable viewing of three-dimensional images on an autostereoscopic display using a barrier grid of dynamically configurable grid characteristics. The barrier grid is configurable to include alternating light-transmitting and light-blocking portions that may be characterized by and configured using a set of one or more grid indicia. The cooperative display of an image on an image display device and the dynamically configurable barrier grid enables autostereoscopic 3D and 4D viewing of images.
Abstract:
An unevenly loaded turbine blade is disclosed including a first region configured for extracting power from a fluid flow and a second region configured for adding power to the fluid flow. The power extracted from the fluid flow is typically greater than the power added to the fluid flow resulting in a net power extracted for the blades. The addition of power to the fluid flow advantageously results in localized injections of high velocity fluid flow which provide distributed mixing of wake and tip vortices along the length of the blade.
Abstract:
Exemplary embodiments provide diagnostic devices, systems and methods for determining the presence or absence of one or more markers or characteristics in one or more samples. An exemplary diagnostic device may display a first two-dimensional machine- readable output to indicate the presence or absence of a first characteristic in a sample. Similarly, the exemplary diagnostic device may display a second two-dimensional machine- readable output to indicate the presence or absence of a second characteristic in a sample. An image capture device may be used to automatically detect the two-dimensional machine- readable output appearing in the diagnostic device. A computational device may be used to automatically determine whether the presence or absence of the first characteristic and/or the second characteristic based on the two-dimensional machine -readable output displayed in the diagnostic device.
Abstract:
The present invention provides vaccines comprising a bisphosphonate, as well as methods for stimulating an immune response, enhancing immunogenicicty of an immunogen, and methods of treating an infection, an autoimmune disease, an allergy, and/or a cancer using the same.
Abstract:
Exemplary embodiments provide firing mechanism assemblies that minimize or eliminate a misfire of an automatic injection device that causes a delay in the delivery of an injection. Exemplary embodiments provide automatic injection devices including firing mechanism assemblies that minimize or eliminate a misfire that causes a delay in the delivery of an injection. Exemplary embodiments provide methods for minimizing or eliminating misfire that causes a delay in delivery of an injection in automatic injection devices. Exemplary embodiments provide methods for using automatic injection devices that are free of a misfire that causes delay in delivery of a therapeutic substance into a patient's body.
Abstract:
A system (10) for determining a stylus position (12) of a stylus (20) includes a telemetric imager (30) and a controller (40) electrically coupled to the telemetric imager. The controller determines the stylus position based on a generated image of a stylus tip (18) from a first direction and a generated image of the stylus tip from a second direction when the stylus tip is in a stylus entry region (50). A method and a system for determining a stylus position are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and machine readable media are provided for automatic charging and swapping power sources for an Autonomous Vehicle (AV). A determination is made whether a current first power source installed in an AV has sufficient power to complete a task assigned to the AV. In response to determining the first power source has insufficient power to complete the assigned task, the AV is directed to a location of a power source repository. The AV is positioned proximate a power source swapping unit of the power source repository where the first power source is removed from the AV and a second power source stored at the power source repository is installed into the AV.
Abstract:
Systems and methods described herein are optimized for cutting sealing elements on packages using optical radiation. Packages can pass through a cutting device that applies the optical radiation to damage, vaporize, or cut the sealing element (e.g., tape) on the package. The systems and methods control several aspects of the cutting process to adjust throughput, improve efficiency, and reduce line stoppages. Systems can include an in-feed conveyor that orients packages and rejects packages that are out of specification, which can lead to issues such as jamming or damage to the equipment. Systems can include a variable- speed cut conveyor controlled by a computing system to dynamically adjust the speed of packages based upon historical cut quality, environmental measurement data, and height data related to a vertical dimension of the package.
