Abstract:
A controller module for a wheelchair automatically, automatedly adjusts position of the wheelchair seat with respect to the wheelchair base. The wheelchair seat is pivotally connected to the wheelchair base, and the seat is moveable with respect to the base by a powered actuator. The controller module includes a microprocessor connected to the powered actuator, a sensor connected to the microprocessor, and interfaces for use in making selections among options for the programmed sequence. The microprocessor performs a programmed sequence, to periodically adjust the seat position when the wheelchair seat is occupied. The signal from the sensor is feedback to the microprocessor for operations according to the programmed sequence. A display of the controller module can provide output information. The controller module can provide medical and therapeutic benefits by operations of periodically adjusting the seat position, thereby varying a wheelchair occupant's pressure contacts, weights, and loadings against the seat.

Abstract:
A controller module for a wheelchair automatically, automatedly adjusts position of the wheelchair seat with respect to the wheelchair base. The wheelchair seat is pivotally connected to the wheelchair base, and the seat is moveable with respect to the base by a powered actuator. The controller module includes a microprocessor connected to the powered actuator. The microprocessor controls operation of the powered actuator, such as by varying power to the actuator. A sensor, such as a 3-axis sensor, is connected to the microprocessor. The sensor senses seat position and signals the microprocessor of the position. The microprocessor performs a programmed sequence, to periodically adjust the seat position when the wheelchair seat is occupied. The signal from the sensor is feedback to the microprocessor for operations according to the programmed sequence. The controller module includes interfaces for use in making selections among options for the programmed sequence. A display of the controller module can provide output information. The controller module also includes other interfaces for input and output, such as for programming the microprocessor, settings, and otherwise. The controller module can provide medical and therapeutic benefits by operations of periodically adjusting the seat position, thereby varying a wheelchair occupant's pressure contacts, weights, and loadings against the seat.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The child restraint system comprises a harness that extends through one of a plurality of slots in the shell for restraining a child occupant within the child restraint system, and a control unit for determining whether the harness is 10 properly adjusted based upon the size of the child. Belt location sensors are disposed at the slots to detect the presence of a harness belt. The child restraint system also includes temperature sensors responsive to body temperature of the child. The control unit processes the signals from the belt location sensors and the proximity sensors and issues an alert signal if the belt location is not the recommended belt location based upon the size of the child.
Abstract:
A child seat adapted for use in a vehicle, the child seat comprising: a shell portion configured for use with or without a base portion; at least one an adjustable tether secured to the shell portion at one end and having a clasping portion at the other; a tension sensor for providing a signal indicative of a tension of the adjustable tether; and an electronic control unit secured to the shell portion, the electronic control unit being operably coupled to the tension sensor to receive the signal, the electronic control unit being capable of processing the signal to compare the signal to a signal indicative of a predetermined range of acceptable tension, wherein the electronic control unit provides an output indicating whether the tension of the adjustable tether is within the predetermined range.
Abstract:
A child restraint system and a method for monitoring installation of the child restraint system are provided. The child restraint system includes a child seat configured to receive a child occupant. The child seat has at least a first seat belt guide member configured to engage a vehicle seat belt webbing for securing the child seat to a vehicle seat. The child restraint system further includes a first sensor coupled to the first seat belt guide member. The first sensor is configured to output a first signal indicative of an amount of tension being applied to the vehicle seat belt webbing. The child restraint system further includes a controller coupled to the child seat configured to receive the first signal and to compute a first tension value based on the first signal. The controller further is configured to induce a first device disposed on the child seat to indicate when the first tension value is less than a predetermined tension value.
Abstract:
A vehicle seat occupant position sensor has one of four mechanisms to provide input with respect to how a seat occupant is engaged with a seat back (20). The first mechanism has some of the individual tension wires (32) forming the flexolator (24) pass through magnetostrictive sensors (38) to detect in wire tension. Another mechanism employs a potentiometer (58) geared so that relative deflection between the seat back (20) and the seat recliner is amplified. A further mechanism is a magnetostrictive sensor (38) that senses the stress in a seat back that is loaded by the seat occupant leaning against the seat back (20). Lastly, a bladder (40) filled with a fluid provides pressure measurements as an indicator of the force generated by the vehicle seat occupant leaning against the seat back (20).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for controlling an adjuster on a motor vehicle, in particular for a motor vehicle seat adjustment, with at least one adjustment range between a first stop and a second stop. An adjustment position for the adjuster may be set within the adjustment range by means of a user action, said adjustment position determined within the adjustment range and a protective stop set in the adjustment path, which, depending on the adjuster position, triggers a reduction in the adjustment energy, in particular to stop the adjustment movement in the vicinity of a mechanical block for the adjustment movement. According to the invention, in order to correct the position of the protective stop, a new protective stop is set, which may not be inactivated by a user action, when a condition, dependent on the adjuster motion of the adjuster device is fulfilled.
