Abstract:
A method is disclosed to purify a polymeric material by filtering a melt comprising poly(arylene ether) and poly(alkenyl aromatic) through a melt filtration system. The method provides a filtered polymeric composition having reduced levels of particulate impurities. The filtered polymeric composition prepared is suitable for use in data storage media applications.
Abstract:
A low gloss thermoplastic composition comprises poly(arylene ether), a rubber-modified poly(alkenyl aromatic) resin and an acrylonitrile containing polymer gel.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a hollow fiber ultrafilter membrane with Poly(Phthalazinone Ether Fulfone) (PPES), Poly(Phthalazinone Ether Ketone) (PPEK) or Poly(Phthalazinone Ether Fulfone Ketone) (PPESK) and preparation thereof, wherein using PPES, PPEK or PPESK as raw materials to prepare hollow fiber ultrafilter membrane, whose vitrifying temperature is higher about 63-115°C than that of general commercial polysulfones, and whose chemical stabilitis are very good. Additive selected from tween, polyglycol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, ethanol isopropanol, propanetriol, acetone, ethylene glycol, diglycol, hydroxyethyl metrhacrylate, lithium chloride, lithium nitrate, C2-C5 organic acid ETAL is added into the solution of preparing membrane. The present invention further provides a forming method and process conditions of hollow fiber ultrafilter membrane with PPES, PPEK or PPESK. The hollow fiber ultrafilter membranes prepared thereof exhibit good properties, such as high-temp. Resistance, dissolvant resistance, acid-alkali resistance and antioxidant, as well as a larger membrane permeation flux.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to ion-conducting, nitrile containing sulfonated polymeric materials formed by the direct polymerization of sulfonated monomers and aromatic nitrile monomers. These nitrile containing sulfonated polymers may be used to form membranes that have application in fuel cell and ion exchange technologies. In particular, the membranes may be used in hydrogen, direct methanol, reformate, and other direct oxidation fuel cells.
Abstract:
An injection moldable composite comprising an admixture of a polyetherketone such as polyetheretherketone (PEEK) matrix resin, a metal filler such as stainless steel fiber coated with a resin sizing soluble in the matrix resin, and glass fiber. The resulting molded form of the composite being electrically conductive and aluminum galvanic compatible.
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates a polymer-metal junction comprising PEEK-PEmEK copolymers compositions, in contact with a metal susbtrate, wherein the PEEK-PEmEK copolymer having R PEEK and R PEmEK repeat units in a molar ratio R PEEK /R PEmEK ranging from 95/5 to 45/55. The present invention also relates to shaped articles including the polymer-metal junction, and methods of making the polymer-metal junctions.
