A thumb-mountable protective utensil system and kit comprises a protective housing, a utensil mount and one or more utensil elements, each of which may be attachable to and detachable from the mount. The housing includes a cavity configured to generally conformingly receive a tip segment of a human thumb for snug securement of the housing thereto. The system is adapted to provide protection from cuts, and can accommodate a variety of thumb sizes by incorporating one or more shim elements which are capable of being attached to and removed from the housing. Examples of variations on the utensil element may include a spiked utensil, a grater utensil and a peeler utensil.

A feeding tube (101) is presented for conveying a food article to a food processing tool (104). The feeding tube (101) comprises an inlet opening (107) and an outlet opening (108), and an inner wall (112) connecting the inlet opening (107) and the outlet opening (108). The feeding tube's inner wall (112) defines a passage (111), through which a food article is conveyable in a conveying direction (109) from the inlet opening (107) to the outlet opening (108). The inner wall (112) has an adjustable inner wall portion (118) for adjusting a cross section (A 2 ) of the passage (111) in a direction having a component perpendicular to the conveying direction (109), which inner wall portion (118) is adjustable irrespective of the food article being present. The adjustable inner wall portion (118) is integrated with the feeding tube (101). The minimum passage cross section (A 2 ) of the feeding tube (101) can be changed in a user friendly way without the need for a variety of parts being difficult to store and prone to loss.

A convertible cutting board is a system or apparatus that provides its user with a surface suitable for the preparation of food as well as an integral means to cover or seal food for storage without having to remove the food from the preparation surface. Advantageously, a convertible cutting board system provides a user access to food contents sitting atop the cutting surface without the requirement that the cutting surface be removed from a larger container or that a dome element be de-communicated. Further, embodiments of a convertible cutting board system feature a retractable dome element that collapses when access to food on the cutting surface is required. Also, some embodiments feature a dome element operable to provide an air-tight seal when in the closed position. Still other embodiments provide a means by which the food preparation surface may be separated from the system but, importantly, separation from the system is not required in order to gain access to stored food.

Cutting head. The objective is to avoid any contact between a cutting table (2) and the cutting part (9) of each cutter (4, 4') that the cutting head (1) possesses. To this end, the frame (3) of the head is carried in an articulated manner by an attachment support (20) and comprises at least one lateral buffer (25) able to come into contact with the table (2) and force the head (1) to pivot in order to keep the cutting edges (9) away from the plane of the table (2), the pivoting movement being performed against the action of elastic return means borne by the support (20) and acting on the frame (3) of the head (1). A further subject of the invention is a cutting installation and a tool for setting up the position of the buffers (25) with respect to the cutting edge of each cutter (4, 4').
