Abstract:
A system and method for determining a set of satellites for which assistance data may be provided to a wireless device. A boundary for an approximate area in which the wireless device is located may be determined and one or more sets of satellites may be determined as a function of the boundary. An optimum set of satellites from the one or more sets of satellites may then be determined using a satellite selection function on the one or more sets of satellites at predetermined points substantially on the boundary.
Abstract:
The subject matter disclosed herein relates to a system and method for acquiring signal received from space vehicles (SVs) in a satellite navigation system. In one example information processed in acquiring a signal from a first SV may be used in acquiring a signal from a second SV.
Abstract:
Method of locating a vehicle (6), comprising the steps consisting in: a) determining a mask characterizing the environment of an antenna of a GPS system (2) with the aid of recording means (4) carried in said vehicle, b) determining, as a function of said mask, a set of visible satellites whose signals are able to be received directly by said antenna and c) determining a position of said vehicle (6) by using said visible satellites.

The subject matter disclosed herein relates to a system and method for acquiring signal received from space vehicles (SVs) in a satellite navigation system. In one example, although claimed subject matter is not so limited, information processed in acquiring a signal from a first SV may be used in acquiring a signal from a second SV.
Abstract:
Method of managing additional filters in a navigation system fitted in a vehicle (1) and which provides, in a journey of the vehicle, at least one position of the vehicle by using a main filter for merging data originating from a visible constellation of satellites (2, 4, 5, 6) present above a horizon of the vehicle, the additional filters each excluding the data originating from one of the satellites to obtain a corrected position should the excluded satellite fail, characterized in that the method comprises the steps of: - determining, from a position of the vehicle, a theoretical constellation of satellites (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) present above the horizon, - for any satellite present in the theoretical constellation, creating and maintaining an additional filter excluding this satellite.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses to obtain an ordered set of satellite positioning system (SPS) satellites, in view of a mobile SPS receiver, via one or two-way communication with the mobile SPS receiver. The mobile SPS receiver receives, in one embodiment, an ordered set of SPS satellites from a cellular transmission site. The ordered set of satellites are those in view of the mobile SPS receiver at a given time; such that the mobile SPS receiver may search for the SPS satellites according to an order of the ordered set of SPS satellites. The order of the ordered set may be obtained by various methods one of which is by minimizing the geometric dilution of precision (GDOP) Satellite; health data may be included in the transmission.

Abstract:
A device for determining measuring periods for satellite measurement of points at least partially surrounded by visual obstacles, comprising a pick up device (11) for digital reception of an image recording said visual obstacles from one measuring point in the sky, whereby the pick-up device (11) has a sensor (14) with a plurality of individual light-sensitive pixels. Said device also comprises a processing unit (16) which is connected to or which can be connected to the pick-up device (11) and which receives output pixel signals from the sensor (14) whereby said output signals are used to recognize visual obstacles (28) as opposed to free areas (30) inside the digital recording and at least one measuring period is calculated according to the size and the position of the free areas (30) or obstacles. a sufficient satellite constellation is provided during said period to enable the point to be measured by satellite.
