Abstract:
A vehicle front axle suspension having a spring beam pivotally attached at its fore or aft end to a bracket depending from a chassis frame side beam with its aft or trailing end mounted on the vehicle front axle. An assembly of integrated parts supports each chassis side beam on the spring beam and axle. A key assembly part is a multi-functional component having a central body portion mounted on the trailing end of the spring beam which has: (1) fore-and-aft cantilever style spring supports; (2) seats for the bight portions of U-bolts; (3) a laterally projecting shock absorber mount; and (4) a laterally projecting track and rod attachment bracket. The assembly also has U-bolts extending downwardly from their seats over the axle, a shock absorber attached to its mount on the lower end and a laterally projecting mount on the chassis side beam on its upper end.
Abstract:
The invention concerns an axle, comprising two arms (4A, 4B) articulated on a vehicle body, provided each with a wheel-bearing steering knuckle (5A, 5B) and connected by at least one crosspiece (3), wherein the link provided between the two arms by the crosspiece comprises at least an insert (2) defined by an elastomeric element (21), positioned, shaped and arranged to ensure at least partly a torsional reaction torque to the oscillations of an arm relative to the other. The invention is characterised in that the insert further comprises at least a bearing (22) for maintaining at an angle each of the two arms relative to the crosspiece, while allowing a rotation due to the oscillation of the arms, rotation to which the elastomeric element (21) responds with a torsional reaction.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a motor vehicle rear axle (10) comprising two longitudinal arms (12) transversely articulated relative to a vehicle body, wherein the arms (12) are linked by a transverse cross member (22) which is fixed to the arms at its ends (28) and which is formed of two wings (24, 26), joined substantially in a U-shape in longitudinal cross-section. The invention is characterised in that each wing (24, 26) of the cross member (22) has an open end along an arc (C) tangent to the general transverse direction of the cross member (22) and tangent to the general longitudinal direction (L) of the associated arm (12) so as to produce a connection zone wherein the warping stresses (G) are cancelled.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a vehicle undercarriage (1) or a chassis for a vehicle, especially for a four-wheeled, driven vehicle for transporting at least one person. At least one main frame (2) is provided, said main frame (2) being configured as an arrangement of closed hollow profiles. The main frame (2) also has diametrically opposed torsion springs (4) whose axis of revolution runs crosswise in relation to the direction of travel. The torsion springs (4) are connected to side hollow profiles (3) of the main frame (2) with gusset plates (5). A flexurally resistant connecting pin (7) is provided on the torsion springs (4) with an oscillating lever (6), the connecting pin having a mounting (8) at its ends for the wheels.
