Abstract:
Two or more digital images are combined. Three digital images are taken, Image blocks (Bi(x,y)) of a first image are matched to image blocks (B2(x,y)) of a second image, and for matching blocks a block difference (MAD12) is determined. If this block difference is below a threshold, the relevant image block of the first image is assigned to be an image block (Bg(x,y)) of the composite image. The remaining image blocks of the first image are matched to image blocks (B3 (x,y)) of the third image, and a further block difference (MAD13) is determined. If said further block difference is below a threshold, the relevant image block of the second image is assigned to be an image block of the composite image, otherwise the relevant image block of the first image is assigned to be an image block of the composite image.
Abstract:
There is provided an apparatus (100) for indexing video data objects (110), said apparatus (100) comprising an input (110) for receiving the video data objects, and a processor (150, 160, 170, 180) for analyzing the video data objects (110) to identify therefrom occurrences of different categories of shots or segments (10, 20, 30) therein, each shot or segment (10, 20, 30) comprising a sequence of one or more images, each shot or segment (10, 20, 30) being identified in response to image feature content of its one or more images, said processor (150, 160, 170, 180) being operable to process the video data objects (110) based on at least the occurrences of the different categories of shots or segments (10, 20, 30) to provide video index classifications of the video data objects (110).
Abstract:
The invention relates in general to a method for automatically assembling a summarized overview (6) of a plurality of images (1-5) into one single image with performing a content analysis (20) of the plurality of images providing at least object and content information (22). To provide a quick overview over a scene within one image, the invention provides selecting from the object and content information at least one object (8- 14), and rendering (24) the at least one selected object with at least one background image into one single image obtaining the summarized overview of the plurality of images within the one single image.
Abstract:
A system (100) enables a user to select a program from a plurality of programs being broadcast. The system includes means (150) for obtaining for each of the programs a measure of a popularity of the program and selection means (134, 138) for selecting at least one of the programs in dependence on the corresponding popularity measures. The selected program is rendered to a user.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are that restrict access to digital content to an authorized user on one or more systems using biometric watermarks. The disclosed biometric watermarking techniques allow an authorized user to be uniquely identified. Access to digital content is restricted to digital content in accordance with the present invention by embedding a biometric watermark, such as a biometric image, in the content. Thereafter, a user can only access the content if a biometric sample of the user matches the embedded biometric watermark. In one variation, the user can only access the content if the biometric sample is a live biometric sample. The embedded biometric watermark optionally includes information describing a system employed by the user to obtain the content. The user can optionally be permitted to access the content, without a biometric evaluation, if the content is on a system that has been previously authorized for the user using a biometric evaluation.
Abstract:
The invention describes a system (1) for generating audio-visual summaries for audio-visual program content (3). The system comprises a search unit (4) for locating a pre-generated text summary (5;) associated with the program content (3); a speech synthesizer (6) for converting the text summary (5 ,) into speech (7); a video 5 summary generator (8) for generating a video summary (9) of the audio-visual program content (3), and an audio/video mixer (10) for mixing the synthesized speech (7) with the video summary (9). Moreover the invention describes an appropriate method for generating audio-visual summaries (5 i) for audio-visual program content (3).
Abstract:
Items are rated for use in a recommender. A record of a plurality of previously rated items and their associated ratings is maintained and upon receiving a rating for a first item (201), at least one of the rated items is retrieved (205) having a similar rating to the rating of the first item. The retrieved at least one rated items is displayed (207). The user may then change rating of the first item or the retrieved items (209) in order to apply the ratings consistently.
Abstract:
An advantageous way of inserting an advertisement in connection with content created by a user is disclosed. The invention comprises detecting (102) one or more dramatic moments in the content when a viewer's attention is substantially high, and inserting (104) the advertisement when at least one of the detected dramatic moments occurs. The invention can assist advertisers to promote their advertisements employing the user- created content.
Abstract:
A plurality of stored digital images are searched. Images are retrieved in accordance with a search query (step 204). The retrieved images are clustered according to a predetermined characteristic of the content of the image (step208). The clusters are ranked on the basis of a predetermined criterion (step 210). Search results are returned according to the ranked clusters (step 212).
Abstract:
A method of suggesting accompaniment tracks for synchronised rendering with a content data item includes obtaining data descriptive of the content data item. A database query based at least partly on the data descriptive of the content data item to identify auxiliary content items to a user is resolved. The database (14;28) includes records, each configured to associate descriptive data with an auxiliary content data item for forming an accompaniment track. Data representative of a selection of an auxiliary content data item is received in association with the query, and a database record for the selected auxiliary content data item is caused to be amended to reflect the selection in association with at least part of the descriptive data included in the query.
