Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing network hosting services. According to one aspect of the invention, a multi-threaded name server (275) handles multiple concurrent name requests, and is particularly well suited for a host system controlling information relating to a large number of domain names. In a preferred embodiment, a multi-threaded name server comprises a request dispatcher thread (282) capable of spawning multiple child threads. The result is a multi-threaded, non-blocking name server capable of handling multiple concurrent name requests for a large number of domain names. One or more additional network services may be provided. For example, in a particular embodiment, electronic message forwarding services are provided wherein an advertisement is associated with an electronic message based on the message contents. In another embodiment, web services are provided wherein HTML pages are dynamically gener ted. In still another embodiment, both electronic message forwarding services and web services are provided by the same system using the centralized database (291).
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for a computer and telecommunication network which can receive, send and manage information from or to a subscriber of the network, based on the subscriber's configuration. The network is made up of at least one cluster containing voice servers which allow for telephony, speech recognition, text-to-speech and conferencing functions, and is accessible by the subscriber through standard telephone connections or through Internet connections. The network also utilizes a database and file server allowing the subscriber to maintain and manage certain contact lists and administrative information. A web server is also connected to the cluster thereby allowing access to all functions through Internet connections.
Abstract:
There is described an electronic mail management system comprising at least one mail server adapted to transmit messages to a remote receiving site, identifiable by a respective remote mail domain and accessible via a data communication path including a high- frequency radio link with a radio station associated with the site, characterized in that it comprises an HF-band communication radio transceiver apparatus coupled to said mail server; a database containing correspondences between mail domains of remote sites and callsigns of the radio station of the remote sites; an apparatus for automatically establishing a radio link with a remote site receiving a message, arranged to: - select an optimal connection frequency in a range of available HF frequencies; - establish a radio link with the radio station of the remote site according to a callsign determined by the correspondence with the remote mail domain; - attach to the message a return receipt request; - send the message using the STANAG 5066 protocol; and - bring down the link upon reception of the return receipt from the remote site.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the field of mobile communications and in particular to messaging methods and systems using mobile communications terminals. The invention provides for the ability for a message to be transmitted to a recipient device in a number of different formats dependent upon the information which is known about the recipient device at that time. Said information may include a messaging address and/or telephony identifier and the possible message formats include e-mails and SMS formats. The particular format selected and the particular device information used to send the message can be selected to suit particular conditions and requirements thereby providing a method and system for ensuring that transmitted messages are received most efficiently.
Abstract:
A system and method to improve data access over a network. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a device for caching data from a server, such as e-mail messages, is provided at a location close to an end user. According to another embodiment of the present invention, a centrally stored address list is provided that may be accessed by a client to determine the best or nearest server for data access.
Abstract:
The invention is a method and a system, which allows the integration of email-enabled devices into a carrier service network without the need for user individual configuration of the devices. A system with an email proxy and a database is provided for handling email requests from a terminal. The network address of the terminal is used to retrieve email configuration settings from the database, whereupon the email proxy is able to communicate with an email server using the retrieved email configuration settings.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing e-mail address information using a mobile phone number are provided. The system includes an e-mail address information providing module that stores e-mail address mapping information for variably mapping e-mail address information including one or more e-mail addresses of each of members, who are registered in an e-mail address information providing service that provides specified e-mail address information to be mapped to a mobile phone number, to a mobile phone number of each member, recognizes a member corresponding to a mobile phone number which is received via a communication network with a request for e-mail address information, and acquires and provides specified e-mail address information to be mapped to the received mobile phone number based on the member's e-mail address mapping information; and an e-mail address converting module that converts the mobile phone number into the specified e-mail address information.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for authenticating an electronic message are provided. The method includes investigating data in a header of the electronic message, and generating an authenticity indicator in response to the investigation. The authenticity indicator may provide an indication of the likelihood that the electronic message was sent from a purported sender visible to a recipient of the electronic message. In certain embodiments, the method includes presenting the authenticity indicator to the recipient of the electronic message. Investigating data in the header may include parsing the header to obtain purported sender data in a from field populated at a mail client and to obtain actual originator data, comparing the purported sender data and actual originator data, and generating the authenticity indicator in response to the comparison. The from field may be the "FROM: ." field of an email message provided to identify a sender of the email message.
Abstract:
A mobile terminal apparatus that can easily transmit/receive data such as image during speech communication by using a radio communication system capable of parallel access. The mobile terminal apparatus can perform parallel access for performing speech communication by the line exchange method or the like in parallel with data communication by the packet communication method or the like. In a speech communication state, if a key operation unit is operated to instruct data transmission to the communication mate (S16), a mail address of the communication mate is acquired by searching the telephone book data (S21), an e−mail destined to the communication mate and having photo image data imaged by a camera unit or the like is automatically generated, and the e−mail is transmitted to the communication mate by the packet communication or the like (S23). The reception side, if an e−mail received is from the communication mate and has image data or the like, the data is opened by priority and displayed on a display unit.
