Abstract:
Abstract:
Among other things, in connection with rendering fax image data representing an image of a document for transmission, supplemental data is also provided, in a manner that will not essentially obscure the image of the document. The supplemental data identifies the document and is not part of the image of the document.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system and method for data storage and retrieval, and more particularly, for indicating that ancillary data is stored in a header of a JPEG file and accessible to a user. The system comprises a JPEG file having an EXIF header and associated image data, and at least one other file of digital data, and a computer. The computer is programmed to scan the JPEG image file for a special indicator in the application marker section of the EXIF header. If the marker is present, the value of marker indicates what type of ancillary digital data is present in the header. For instance, if the marker contains the string EKC-JPEG, then the ancillary data is known to be another JPEG file. Other types of data can be indicated as appropriate. The presence of the ancillary data is then used for the appropriate type of presentation to the user. A reveal icon is then used in presenting the data to indicate whether the ancillary data is another JPEG file, video, audio, sound, document, etc. The user would be presented with the data as appropriate.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for the electronically controlled generation of a graphic signature (3) for a document (1, 2), and to a method for the electronically controlled verification of the originality of a document (1, 2) in a data processing system (5). A data record characteristic of an electronic document (1) stored in the memory (6) is determined from said document, and a graphic signature (3) associated with the document (1) is created on the basis of the characteristic data record. The invention also relates to a data processing system, and to a computer program for carrying out the method.
Abstract:
The invention relates to identification documents, and in particular to preprinting processing covert images, such as UV or IR images, provided on such identification documents. In one implementation, the invention provides a method of processing a digital image that is to be printed on a surface of an identification document as a fluorescing-capable image to improve the quality of the image. Edges or boundaries are detected within the image, the detected edges or boundaries forming an intermediate image. The edges or boundaries within the image are emphasized, and the emphasized image is used for printing the covert image. In some implementations of the invention, a digital watermark is embedded in the covert image.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel interactive information system which can be used to make a traditional print medium such as a magazine, "interactive". When the traditional print medium is placed on a print media receiving unit in a predetermined position, a user can interact with the traditional print medium. Printed matter elements on the printed medium can be made "selectable" by the user.
Abstract:
An animal image can be administered quickly and precisely by digitally visualizing the animal along with bar codes and by reading the individual identification codes of the animal from the digital image. The unique and visualizable portion of the animal is photographed and visualized digitally together with the bar codes having the individual identification data recorded therein, by a digital camera or the like. When the digital image of the animal obtained is stored in the recording medium of the computer and administered together with the file name, the bar codes are read either from that digital image with the software of the computer or by reading the screen display or the printed image of the computer by the bar code reader so that the file name of the digital image is created on the basis of the individual identification information of the animal recorded in the bar codes.
Abstract:
A self-authenticating printed document (101) comprises text and a symbol (102) printed on the document (101). The symbol (102) includes a verification value, which is representative of the entire data content of the text, and error correction codes for correcting the text. The verification value is used to check the integrity of the text after the document has been corrected using the error correction codes.
