Abstract: An engine (100) which may be used as a pump such as a supercharger has a body (1) and a main shaft (5) with a pair of pistons (6) accommodated within respective recesses in the main shaft (5). A timing member (11) rotates synchronously with the main shaft (5) about an axis which is parallel to, but offset from, the one is of rotation of the main shaft (5). A drive link (9) is pivotally connected to the timing member (11) and fixedly secured to the piston (6). Timing member (11) and drive links (9) function as gears but without the associated problems related with gears.
