Abstract:
A rechargeable battery cell a casing and first and second electrode materials separately positioned in the casing. A mechanical impulse element is positioned to mechanically move and dislodge gas bubbles from at least one of the first and second electrode materials in response to activation. In some embodiments the mechanical impulse element can include a vibratory piezoelectric element. In other embodiments, a gas vent in the battery cell can be used to release dislodged gas bubbles.
Abstract:
Provided herein is a method including bonding a first oxide layer on a handle substrate to a second oxide layer on a complementary metal oxide semiconductor ("CMOS"), wherein the fusion bonding forms a unified oxide layer including a diaphragm overlying a cavity on the CMOS. The handle substrate is removed leaving the unified oxide layer. A piezoelectric film stack is deposited over the unified oxide layer. Vias are formed in the piezoelectric film stack and the unified oxide layer. An electrical contact layer is deposited, wherein the electrical contact layer electrically connects the piezoelectric film stack to an electrode on the CMOS.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a nanogenerator comprising a p-type conducting polymer substrate and a piezoelectric material, the p-type conducting polymer substrate preferably being a polythiphene. The nanogenerator of the invention is preferably suitable for incorporation in porous or non-porous material, such as the warp or weft of a woven textile.
Abstract:
An active acoustic system includes a thin-film sheet having an array of piezoelectric microstructures embossed in the film. Each piezoelectric microstructure may act as a speaker and/or a microphone. A control circuit is configured to individually address the piezoelectric microstructures to provide a separate voltage signal to, or receive a separate voltage signal from, each piezoelectric microstructure.
