Abstract:
An audio/video content receiver being configured to receive media content from a content source by a broadcast data path, the media content being arranged as a plurality of media channels comprises a host module having a tuner configured to assign logical channel indices to the media channels to allow selection, at the host module, of one or more of the media channels for reproduction by selecting the corresponding logical channel index, the host module storing channel association data associating the logical channel indices with the received media channels; and a removable conditional access module (CAM), the CAM having an access control unit for decoding access-controlled encoded broadcast content, the host module and the removable CAM being arranged to provide an encrypted communication link for decoded access-controlled encoded broadcast content between the CAM and the host module; in which: the host module is configured to acquire channel association data via the broadcast data path; the CAM is configured to provide further channel association data to the host module; the host module comprises a detector configured to detect a conflict of logical channel index between the channel association data acquired by the host from the broadcast data path and the channel association data provided by the CAM and, in the case of a conflict, to detect one or more unused logical channel indices; and the CAM is configured to select one of the unused logical channel indices for use by a media channel for which the logical channel index defined in the CAM'S channel association data conflicts with a logical channel index defined in the host's channel association data.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for performing adaptive bitrate streaming using alternative streams of protected content in accordance with embodiments of the invention are described. One embodiment includes a processor, and non-volatile storage containing an encoding application. In addition, the encoding application configures the processor to: receive source content; obtain common cryptographic information; encode the source content as a plurality of streams including a plurality of alternative streams of content; and protect the plurality of alternative streams of content using the common cryptographic information.
Abstract:
A system and method for protecting content is described, the system and method comprising a content item which has been segmented into at least two portions, each portion being encrypted according to a different encryption key, a single content rights license associated with the content item, the license including at least two encrypted decryption keys operative to decrypt at least one of the at least two portions, such that any two encrypted decryption keys of the at least two encrypted decryption keys includes a first key which is less securely encrypted than the second key, a plurality of decryption keys, each one of the decryption keys being able to decrypt at least one of the at least two encrypted decryption keys, a decryptor for decrypting the at least one of the at least two encrypted decryption keys, and a second decryptor for decrypting, with the at least one of the at least two encrypted decryption keys, at least one portion of the at least two portions of the content item.
Abstract:
A video stream composed of combined video frames, and methods and systems for its generation, transmission, reception and reproduction are described; the video frames have a first resolution and comprise in their entirety two contents usable through extraction from the aforesaid video frame: a first content belonging to a video stream (F1) at a second resolution lower than the first resolution of the frame; and, in the area of the frame formed by the remaining pixels, at least a second content belonging to an information stream (F2) having, in the case where it is also a video stream, a resolution equal to or less than the second resolution, where during the fruition of one of the two video streams it is shown full-screen in its entirety, or in the case of a data information stream, data encoded via a set of pixels, the number of which is less than or equal to the number of pixels left free by the first video stream. The video frames are suitable for making, by means of a temporal sequence, a video stream comprising at least two information streams, one constituted by the video stream (F1) and the other constituted by the information stream (F2) with content independent of the previous video stream (F1).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a Digital Right Management (DRM) service providing device and method. The device includes a Media Presentation Description (MPD) component unit for determining a DRM system required for each representation of content, which is provided through an adaptive streaming service; classifying the representations into at least one group according to a predetermined standard, and generating MPD that includes representation group information representing the classified groups and content protection information having information on DRM systems corresponding to the representation group information; and a communication unit for transmitting the MPD information to a user terminal that receives the content. Thus, the present invention defines groups on the basis of predetermined criteria for representations during an adaptive streaming service, and represents a plurality of systems required for a corresponding group as a necessary DRM system without repetitive DRM system expressions. Therefore, DRM service may be efficiently provided. Additionally, different security requirements according to various standards such as content type, content quality, content playing medium, etc., may be satisfied.
Abstract:
A method including receiving encrypted multimedia information of a multimedia broadcast multicast service streaming session, wherein the multimedia information is encrypted using an encryption key. An indication allowing to switch the receiving of the encrypted multimedia information to a peer-to-peer streaming session is received and receiving of the encrypted multimedia information from the multimedia broadcast multicast service streaming session to the peer-to-peer streaming session is switched. Encrypted multimedia information of the peer-to-peer streaming session is received.
