Abstract:
A bamboo fiber reinforced plastic formed product which is produced by a method comprising placing bamboo fibers in a lope form prepared by twisting fibers from a bamboo culm into a lope form and/or fibers from a bamboo culm in a mold in a state wherein they are aligned in the length direction, charging a thermosetting resin into said mold, followed by compression molding or the like, or a method comprising putting a bamboo fiber sheet comprising fibers from a bamboo culm between thermoplastic resin layers, placing the resultant product into a mold in a state wherein the surface of the fibers is covered by the thermoplastic resin, followed by compression molding or the like. The above bamboo fiber reinforced plastic formed product is excellent in mechanical characteristics such as flexural strength, tensile strength and impact strength.
Abstract:
Molded articles or substrates having an in-mold coating thereon are disclosed. The in-mold coated substrates are produced by a method wherein the flow of the in-mold composition onto the substrate can be selectively controlled. The molded articles can be preferentially coated in desired or predetermined areas with in-mold coating compositions by controlling the thickness or depth of various sections of the substrate.
Abstract:
Foams comprising blends of thermoplastic and thermoset materials wherein the thermoset forms a discontinuous phase in a continuous thermoplastic phase are described. Foams comprising an uncured thermoset and unreacted radiation-activatable curing agent in a thermoplastic matrix are also described. Additionally described are batch and continuous methods for making the foams. Particular uses for the foams, such as flexographic mounting tapes, are also described.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for producing a flat article comprising a material that contains the products of several reactions. The method comprises the following steps: carrying out a pre-cross-linking of a mixture comprising an epoxydation product of a carboxylic acid ester using at least one cross-linking agent in order to form a mouldable material; moulding the mouldable material in the shape of a flat article; and curing the moulded material in order to produce a flat article, wherein the pre-cross-linking reaction is separate from the curing reaction. This invention also relates to a mouldable material that can be stored and to a flat article that can be obtained from the same.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for moulding an optical lens by means of two moulding shells (10A,10B) and a closing element (11) acting in the periphery thereof. According to the invention, the moulding shells (10A,10B) are placed in holding means (13A,13B). If necessary, one of the holding means (13A,13B) is made to rotate around a centering axis (A) which is common to the unit. The moulding shells (10A,10B) are removed from the holding means (13A,13B) using removing means (14A,14B). The possible inclination of the moulding shells (10A,10B) is verified in relation to a reference plane. If necessary, their position is adjusted in relation to the removing means (14A,14B) which bear them. Both of the moulding shells (10A,10B) are moved towards each other using the removing means (14A,14B) while maintaining their position in relation thereto. The closing element (11) is placed around the moulding shells (10A,10B) and the moulding cavity (12) thus formed is filled. The invention can be used with optical lenses which are made of a polymerizable material.
