    Abstract: The proposal is for an electromagnetic switch for internal combustion engine starters with a magnetic core (2) and an armature (8) movable against the force of a return spring (17) on which the switching spindle (15) passing through the magnet core is secured, the end of said spindle facing away from the armature bearing a contact plate (22) co-operating with at least two electric terminals (25), in which there is, at the end of the switching spindle (15) facing away from the armature (8), an additional contact bridge (23) co-operating with at least two additional contacts (26, 27). When the switch is actuated, the appropriate starter is supplied via the additional contacts (26, 27) with a voltage ensuring the gradual rotation of the starter. This ensures the engagement of the starter pinion with a suitable toothed wheel, e.g. the flywheel of an internal combustion engine. It is only immediately afterwards that the main electric terminals (25) are electrically connected via the contact plate (22), thus applying the full supply voltage to the starter motor and taking it to maximum revolutions. Unsuccessful starting procedures which lay considerable mechanical stress on both the starter and the internal combustion engine are thus reduced to the minimum.

Erfindungsgemäß ist vorgesehen, dass die Kontaktbrücke mindestens zwei separate, an einem gemeinsamen Kontaktbrückenträger gelagerte Kontaktstücke aufweist, wobei jedes der separaten Kontaktstücke jeweils mit den Nutflanken einer der Nu¬ ten des ersten Festkontakts und mit den Nutflanken einer der Nuten des zweiten Festkontakts in Kontakt bringbar ist.
