Abstract:
The invention includes a method and apparatus adapted for providing quality-of-service to a packet flow within a Radio Access Network (RAN). In one embodiment, a method includes receiving packets of a packet flow at a first network element of the RAN, where the packet flow is associated with an application normally served in a best effort service class of the RAN and each packet of the packet flow comprises an indication of a quality-of-service policy to be applied to the packet flow within the RAN, and, applying the indicated quality-of-service policy to the packet flow within the RAN. The quality-of- service policy to be applied to the packet flow within the RAN is based on at least one characteristic of the packet flow, which may be determined in any manner, such as using information included in the packet headers, using deep packet inspection techniques, and the like. The indication of the quality-of- service policy to be applied to the packet flow within the RAN may be set either inside the RAN or outside the RAN.

An illustrative lighting device comprises: a light emitting chip; a silicone encapsulant disposed over the light emitting chip; and a light transmissive vinyl or acrylic layer sealing an assembly including at least the silicone encapsulant and the light emitting chip. An illustrative method of fabricating a lighting device comprises: encapsulating a light emitting chip with a silicone encapsulant; and sealing an assembly including at least the silicone encapsulant and the light emitting chip using a light transmissive vinyl or acrylic layer. An illustrative method of fabricating a lighting device comprises: encapsulating a light emitting chip with a silicone encapsulant; and sealing an assembly including at least the silicone encapsulant and the light emitting chip by disposing a light transmissive plastic layer as a unit over the assembly.
Abstract:
The authenticity of a security document, such as a bank note, is verified by use of a security feature arranged in or on the document, which security feature comprises an antenna arranged to receive EM-radiation from an external energy source; a rectifier arranged to receive electric energy from the antenna and convert it into a rectified current; and an electrochromic display arranged to alter its electrochromic state in response to said rectified current. Hence, a security feature able alter its appearance in response to EM- radiation is provided, which comprises a display that can be given a large variety of two dimensional shapes.
Abstract:
Usage rights for a digital work are established prior to creation of the corresponding content. The rights can be associated with the content after the content is created. A content creation, such as a video recorder or a still camera, device can store labels of the rights and can associate usage rights with content in real time as the content is created.
Abstract:
Intermediate resolution-enhancement state layouts are generated based upon an original non-resolution enhanced layout of an integrated circuit and an associated resolution-enhanced layout. The intermediate resolution-enhancement state layout includes fragments corresponding to parts of the original layout and biases associated with the fragments, where the biases indicate distances between the fragments and the resolution-enhanced layout. The fragments are also assigned attributes such as fragment type, fragment location, and biases. The intermediate resolution-enhancement state layouts can be combined to generate the layout for a full chip IC. Two or more intermediate resolution-enhancement state layouts are assembled and are locally reconverged to adjust the resolution enhancement associated with the intermediate resolution-enhancement state layouts and obtain the intermediate resolution-enhancement state layouts for the full IC.
Abstract:
Provided are a method, system and article of manufacture for managing devices, wherein in certain embodiments a request implemented via at least one device independent class is received. A class hierarchy database is traversed to determine at least one device specific class that corresponds to the at least one device independent class, wherein the class hierarchy database stores a class hierarchy and associations between classes. The received request is modified, wherein in the modified request the least one device independent class has been translated to the at least one device specific class.
Abstract:
The present invention is related to the discovery of several single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and/or mutations in the Alpha-2-Macroglobulin gene (A2M), which are risk factors for Alzheimer's Disease (AD). More specifically, aspects of the invention concern nucleic acids corresponding to the A2M gene or fragments thereof, which contain one or more of the SNPs and/or mutations described herein, peptides or proteins encoded by said nucleic acids, antibodies to said peptides or proteins and methods of making said compositions, diagnostic methods, methods of data analysis, and pharmaceutical discovery and preparation methods.
Abstract:
A framework for a screen content sharing system with generalized screen descriptions is described. In one approach, a screen content update message is sent from a client device to a control plane where the client device wishes to share its screen content with a remote device. The remote device sends a message indicating an interest in receiving said update. The control plane subsequently retrieves a detailed description from the client device. Based on the computational context of the remote device, the detailed description may be trimmed to a more compatible format. In some embodiments, the detailed description is sent to the remote device and includes a screen description and a content description. The content of the shared screen is described and the content is subsequently retrieved from a service router. A shared screen content is assembled based on the screen description and the content retrieved from the service router.
Abstract:
Different representations are associated with an instance of media content, and a representation can include multiple portions of media content. A respective quality value and bitrate can be associated with each of the portions. Information about the instance of content, including bitrate and quality information, can be accessed by and/or sent to a client. The quality information indicates the availability of measures of quality (e.g., quality values) and where those quality values reside or how they can be retrieved. The client can use quality as well as bitrate to make more intelligent decisions while streaming the content. For example, while the content is being downloaded over a network, the client can adapt to changes in available network bandwidth by selecting one portion of the instance of media content over another based not just on its bitrate but also based on its quality value.
Abstract:
A process for detecting Haemophilus influenzae nucleic acid in a sample includes producing an amplification product by amplifying a Haemophilus influenzae nucleotide sequence and measuring the amplification product to detect Haemophilus influenzae in the sample. Some embodiments allow direct serotype determination in a single step assay. Also provided are reagents and methods for detecting and distinguishing Haemophilus influenzae from other infectious agents. A kit is provided for detecting and quantifying Haemophilus influenzae in a sample.
