Abstract:
Briefly, in accordance with one embodiment of the invention, an access point may provide multiple access to a single medium by providing time division multiple access to the medium.
Abstract:
Systems, devices and methods for updating link adaptations in multi-carrier modulated signals between an access point (AP) and a wireless local area network (WLAN) station (STA) include (are configured for) periodically transmitting a channel sounding signal from the AP. The STA receives each unsolicited channel sounding signal and evaluates the current channel conditions between the AP and STA. The AP adjusts a rate of transmission of the channel sounding signals in accordance with the channel coherence time so that the channel estimates performed by the STA will be valid within the time varying characteristics of the channel. Depending on the length of the coherence time for network environment, the channel sounding signals may be AP beacons, low overhead signal fragments with no payload, or a combination of both.
Abstract:
Briefly, a method and apparatus (110) that may establish a secured direct link (140) between a first station (130) and a second station (120) of wireless local area network (100). The establishment of this secured direct link may be done by an access point that may exchange protocol messages between the first station, the second station and the access point (135, 125).
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for assigning data traffic classes to virtual channels in communications networks in generally described. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a node receiving a data packet including content to initialize a virtual channel on a point-to-point communication link to another node, initializing the virtual channel, based on the content, and mapping a data traffic class to the initialized virtual channel.
Abstract:
A fast and precise method to perform inverse and forward Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) is disclosed. The method may be used for implementing a two-dimensional (2D) inverse or forward DCT that operates on an NxM coefficient block and has a higher accuracy than is specified by the IEEE 1180-1990 standard (for the inverse operation). The disclosed method comprises the following stages: based on integer operations, a fixed point one dimensional (1D) DCT may be performed on each row of an input coefficient block, an integer-to-single-precision floating point result conversion may be performed, and a single precision floating point 1D DCT may be performed on each column of the coefficient block resulting from the previous stages.
Abstract:
A circuit includes an input terminal (56), an output terminal (70) and a latch (50). The input terminal (56) receives an input signal. The latch is programmable with a value. The latch (50) communicates the input signal to the output terminal (70) in response to the circuit not being in a sleep mode and in response to the circuit being in the sleep mode, furnishes a second signal to the output terminal (70) indicative of the value.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are systems, methods and a computer readable storage medium that determine an individual's movement during sleep. In some embodiments, the identification is based on data from a motion sensor included in wearable device. In some embodiments, the individual wears the wearable device on his wrist during the individual's resting and/or sleep activities. In some embodiments, the system, methods and the computer readable storage medium automatically identify the various (stages) types of sleep during an individual's sleep periods that include periods of REM sleep, deep sleep, and light sleep and that are indicative of the individual's overall well-being and health.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus relating to defining additional channels in an interprocessor communication system having broadcast and non-broadcast channels. A broadcast identifier may be sent on a channel defined to be non-broadcast, generating an additional broadcast channel outside the interprocessor communication protocol definition. Likewise a device-specific identifier may be sent on a channel defined to be a broadcast channel, generating an additional non-broadcast channel outside the interprocessor communication protocol definition.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for communicating in a wireless network using time division duplex (TDD) protocols. The ratio for uplink and downlink subframes of a physical frame may be dynamically adjusted as traffic stream requirements of the wireless network change. In certain embodiments, the wireless network is a wireless metropolitan area network (WMAN) utilizing orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). Various specific embodiments and variations are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus and system enable a management virtual machine to act as a proxy for other virtual machines on a virtual machines host. In one embodiment, the management virtual machine may maintain a database of network management information pertaining to each virtual machine on the host. An enhanced virtual machine manager on the host may provide an interface to the management virtual machine to enable the management virtual machine to trap management messages destined for virtual machines on the host. The management virtual machine may respond to the messages based on information in the database and/or issue queries to the virtual machines to obtain the requisite information. In one embodiment, the management virtual machine may aggregate the information from various virtual machines prior to responding to the network management message.
