A method for managing traffic of a plurality of packets in a plurality of packet flows transmitted using a time-slotted interface. The packet flows traverse a plurality of switches of a transport network according to an assigned path from a source node to a destination node. The method comprises determining (202) an end-to-end latency of a plurality of packets traversing a current switch in packet flows and assigning (204) priority values to the packets traversing the current switch, wherein a priority value of a packet depends on the determined end-to-end latency of said packets. The method further comprises allocating (206) a time slot in an output interface of the current switch to the packet having the highest priority value among the packets competing for said time slot.

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a server performing operations including receiving a list of media content items; the media content items have a priority order according to a number of communication devices of network subscribers in a region predicted to request the respective media content items and a predicted location of the communication devices. The operations also include monitoring network traffic to predict a period of decreased network load, and scheduling copying of the media content items from a content server to a caching proxy located in the region; the copying is scheduled to be performed during the predicted period of decreased network load and in accordance with the priority order. The operations further include receiving from the caching proxy a report including the media content items stored at the caching proxy and an amount of storage remaining at the caching proxy. Traffic flow template filters with policy control and charging rule precedence are provided in a network. A request from a wireless device to add or modify at least one traffic flow template, TFT, filter, with a requested TFT filter precedence value for a particular bearer associated with the wireless device is received. A policy and charging control, PCC, rule precedence range, corresponding to the TFT filter is then determined. The determined PCC rule precedence range is transmitted to a policy and charging rules function, PCRF, block.
Abstract:
To be accessed on different media players, requested content must be delivered in a format that is supported by the requesting device. A dynamic content packager for encrypting and packaging requested content for different requesting devices at the time of consumption is disclosed.
