Abstract:
There is described a method for making a clothing article (1) for persons with hernia, preferably an ostomy hernia. The produced clothing article may be mass produced, as it has a possibility of adaptation to different persons with different size and shape. This is effected by making the clothing article with a seamless knit, a tubular item intended for being placed around the user’s lower body part. The tubular item is compressed in an area (6) for forming a clothing article with anatomical fit with a predefined size and shape wanted in the finished clothing article.
Abstract:
An underpants comprising a waist part (1) and a thigh part (2), wherein the thigh part (2) is separated into a front thigh part (2a) and a rear thigh part (2b) and provided with a connectable separating part (8). Assuming the overall length from the upper front end to the upper rear end of the waist part (1) through the thigh part (2) is L, the separating part (8) is provided at such a position as the overall length Pf at a part (13) corresponding to the front thigh part from the upper front end to the forward end at the separating part of the front thigh part (2a) is not longer than 2/5L and a part (14) corresponding to the rear thigh part from the upper rear end to the forward end at the separating part of the rear thigh part (2b) is formed to be stretchable such that the overall length Pb of that part (14) can shrink to not longer than 1/2L when the thigh part (2) is separated at the separating part (8). A person can urinate readily by simply separating the thigh part and the separated front and rear thigh parts can be prevented from being contaminated with water of a toilet stool, or the like.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to the field of medical equipment and relates particularly to clothing for hospital patients who may undergo physical examination or surgical procedures. The present invention seeks to provide medical clothing which allows easy access to the patient's body for the purpose of examination, treatment or surgery but which also provides coverage akin to normal clothing so that the patient does not feel inhibited or exposed. According to one aspect of the present invention there is provided medical clothing for a patient, comprising a gown formed with two arm apertures and an open front portion, which is arranged to close around the patient's torso by overlapping of respective sides thereof, and means of fastening the respective sides in an overlapped posititon. Preferably, each arm aperture is provided with releasable fastening means for reducing or enlarging the extent of the arm aperture. Beneficially, the arm aperture fastening means may be located in an under-arm portion of the arm aperture. According to another aspect of the invention there is provided medical clothing for the lower body of a patient, which clothing is configured as a pair of trousers having a waist portion and two leg portions, which trousers are provided with a releasably fastenable access cut which extends from the waist portion to an end cuff of one leg portion, thereby permitting access to the covered portion of the patient's groin and corresponding leg by unfastening of the cut.
Abstract:
The invention is a postoperative binder and method of use. The binder is made of relatively inelastic material that is cut to fit the patient and held in place by a plurality of tails fastened with binders. The present invention uses mechanical, rather than elastic, compression. Mechanical loads are carried over the iliac crest, by hooking the tails of the binder over the iliac crest and then bifurcating the tails for attachment to the abdominal portion of the binder. The present invention provides support of lower abdominal tissue, especially near the genitals and in the area of the peritoneum. Cut out (117) defines an anal opening in the binder. Cut outs (128, 129) define leg openings, together with tails (105, 107). End (135) of the binder is shown under and attached to the ends of tails (105, 107).
Abstract:
A hip protection device for the elderly which provides protection to the trochanter region of the wearer to prevent fracture thereto upon falling from a standing position. An undergarment (22) is provided with at least one pocket (24) enclosing a pad (26), or other alternative arrangements for securing the pads (26) to the hip regions of the garment. Each protective pad (26) defines an open-ended channel having an elongated major axis along which it is substantially linear and a minor axis which has a generally parabolic curvature. The undergarment (22) and the pad (26) are configured such that the pads (26) wrap around and fit snugly against the trochanteric area of the wearer's hip. Each pad (26) has a relatively rigid thin shell (32) on its convex side and a relatively thin layer of resilient impact absorbing material (34) on its concave side. Upon the wearer falling from a standing position onto their hip area, the impact force is distributed generally uniformly across the surface area of the rigid shield (32) and then to the resilient impact absorbing material (34), which has sufficient resilience and thickness that is greater than ninety percent of the absorbed impact force. In one embodiment for incontinent persons, a diaper is detachably engageable with the undergarment.
Abstract:
A medical examination garment (10) has a trunk (11) and a right and left leg (19, 20) extending from the trunk. The trunk, right leg and left leg each have a front portion (17) and a rear portion (18). The garment has an opening (23) therein which extends into the front and rear portions. The garment also has a front flap (24) for covering and uncovering a front portion (25) of the opening, and a rear flap (30) for covering and uncovering a rear portion (31) of the opening. Velcro3 strips (28, 29) are provided for securing the front flap to the trunk. Additional Velcro3 strips (33, 34) are provided for securing the rear flap and rear flaps to each other.

Abstract:
Undergarments that are configured to be worn by a patient during a medical procedure is described. For example, this document provides undergarments that covers the patient's genitalia while leaving the patient's hip area unobstructed to facilitate a medical procedure that requires hip access.
Abstract:
A combination of a machine knit first layer and a weave fabric second layer for reducing friction between the layers is provided. The machine knit first layer comprises an upper surface with a first vector and a lower surface with a second vector or it comprises an asperities vector and the weave fabric second layer has an upper surface having a long vector or an asperities vector and a short vector, and a lower surface. The upper or lower surface of the first layer is for contact with the upper surface of the second layer, and the orientation of the first or second vectors or the asperities vector relative to the long vector or asperities vector control the friction between the first and second layer, such that in use, the layers are oriented such that friction is reduced between the layers or friction is selectively reduced for only one of lateral or longitudinal movement.
Abstract:
A garment for health care use is disclosed. The garment comprises at least one rear panel, at least two front panels and a plurality of releasable seams, positioned along peripheral regions of said at least one rear panel and said at least two front panels for releasably connecting said at least two front panels to said at least one rear panel. Each of the at least two front panels is permanently connected to the at least one rear panel at least one position. At least a portion of one the front panels overlaps the other. The rear and front panels each comprise a plurality of flaps or regions which can be folded over when in use as worn by a wearer, to expose different areas of said wearer's body.
