Abstract:
The present invention relates to hygienic products such as sanitary pads and tampons, patient/adult diapers and baby diapers which are made antimicrobial. In the present invention, a mixture of glucopon, chlorhexidine gluconate and triclosan is obtained from the boron compounds called sodium borate, zinc borate, sodium perborate tetrahydrate, borax pentahydrate and disodium octaborate tetrahydrate; and this mixture provides antifungal, anticandidal, antibacterial and antiviral properties to the woven or non-woven textile products and hygienic products. Additionally, the said hygienic products are made hydrophilic by means of the invention.
Abstract:
A laminate comprising a first nonwoven layer comprising a plurality of apertures and a second nonwoven layer is provided. One of the first and second nonwoven layers is a pre-strained layer and is joined to the other one of the first and second nonwoven layers. The other one of the first and second nonwoven layers is a non-pre-strained layer. The pre-strained layer and the non-pre-strained layer together form a three-dimensional laminate.
Abstract:
A laminate comprises a first layer comprising a plurality of lower opacity zones positioned within a higher opacity zone is provided. The plurality of lower opacity zones form a first pattern. The laminate comprises a second layer comprising a second pattern. The laminate comprises a non-joined span of the first and second layers having a dimension of at least about 20 mm. A first portion of the second pattern is visible through at least some of the plurality of lower opacity zones when the first layer, within the non-joined span, is in a first position relative to the second layer, within the non-joined span. A second portion of the second pattern is visible through at least some of the plurality of lower opacity zones when the first layer, within the non-joined span, is in a second position relative to the first layer, within the non-joined span.
Abstract:
Absorbent articles having airfelt-free cores or substantially airfelt-free cores in combination with high loft, three-dimensional nonwoven materials are disclosed herein. Packages comprising these articles are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a monitoring system for monitoring various body functions such as temperatures, incontinence, soiling, body motion, etc. of patients. A problem with previous systems is that their useful life is limited to detecting only one urination or defecation event. The monitoring system of the present invention comprises: i) a plurality of temperature sensors (34, 36) for attachment to the outer surface of an absorbent article (24) used by the patient and generating a signal; ii) an accelerometer (ACC) for providing a signal indicative of a change in motion, position or orientation of said article iii) a transmitter (T) for communicating said signals to a processor or central computer (S2) which is provided with computer code capable of determining whether a urination or defecation event has occurred in said absorbent article or whether the patient's position has changed; and iv) display means for displaying said event or such position variation to a care-giver.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A disposable diaper having front and rear augmented waistband zones having a specified size and stiffness is disclosed. For relatively thinner, less bulky diapers of currently marketed designs, providing augmented waistband zones is believed to reduce mental and physical effort for the caregiver in application of the diaper. The augmented waistband zones provide a robust-feeling structure proximate the waist edges, which the caregiver may grasp at front and rear to adjust the diaper on the wearer. Caregiver perception of a need to reach deeper into the diaper structure to grasp it at a thicker area to tug at it is believed to be reduced.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A disposable protection pad is proposed for adhering to infant's clothing for guarding the clothing from soiling due to waste leakage from a diaper worn by the infant. The protection pad has a fluid-pervious front sheet, a fluid- impervious back sheet, and a fluid-absorbent core between the front and the back sheets. An adhesive means is provided on the rear surface of the back sheet, such that the protection pad can be releasably adhered to the inner surface of the clothing. The protection pad is oval shaped having a broader middle region and with narrower top and bottom edges. The protection pad is preferably provided with pull tabs and leg notches.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to coatings for articles, e.g. sanitary and absorbent articles, comprising a non-zeolitic silica mesoporous structure, e.g. having pore sizes between 2 and 50 nm in diameter. The coatings of the present invention have shown an ability to effectively reduce odors.
