Abstract:
'Smart bookmarks' are described which facilitate aggregation, sharing, and dynamic access to the content in which a particular user has an interest.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are described for detecting social relationships across multiple networks and/or communication channels. These social relationships may then be utilized in a wide variety of ways to support and enhance a broad range of user services.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are described for presenting sponsored search results. A user is enabled to initiate a search from a context. The sponsored search results and organic search results are presented in a search results page in response to the search, an order of the sponsored search results and placement of subsets of the sponsored search results relative to the organic search results in the search results page having been determined with reference to contextual information relating to the context.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are described which enable the customization of search results. Various embodiments of the invention relate to machine-readable representations of configurations of one or more components of a search results page. The machine-readable representations are operable in conjunction with a search engine to present, in response to a search query, one or more search results in an interface in accordance with the corresponding configuration.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are described for initiating a conference call having a plurality of participants. A call originator is enabled to identify one or more participant identifiers. The call originator is enabled to establish a first connection to a remote system by which the one or more participant identifiers are communicated to the remote system. Establishment of the first connection does not require administrative access to the remote system. A second connection is established from the remote system to each of one or more voice communication devices corresponding to one or more of the participants using the one or more participant identifiers.
Abstract:
A variety of techniques are described in which wireless access points or base stations are deployed in wireless networks to achieve geographic isolation, i.e., distinct zones of operation having well-defined geographic boundaries, and increased overall capacity in an area having a high population of access and client devices.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are described which enable flexible and secure processing of digital bearer instruments. An architecture is provided that enables provision of an extensible applications framework that flexibly supports a variety of features and functionality supporting title-based rights processing operations. A wide range of methods of defining and assuring rights processing operating environments extend the capabilities of rights processing operating environments in a variety of ways.
Abstract:
An adjustable apodized lens aperture is described which is constructed using photochromic material. As the excitation energy increases, the aperture constricts so as reduce the amount of light through the aperture. As the excitation energy decreases, the aperture dilates so as increase the amount of light through the aperture.
Abstract:
A light fixture (20) for illuminating a specific target is discloses. The light fixture includes an extended light source (22) that emits light from a surface. The light source emits light from the surface in directions towards the target area (25) and away from the target area. The light fixture also includes a reflector arrangement (24) configured to redirect the light that would otherwise be emitted from the surface of the light source in directions away from the target area to directions towards the target area such that substantially all the light emitted from the light source is made incident in or directed into the target area.
