Abstract:
A process for removing at least one of As, Cd, Hg and Se from a fluid stream, comprising: (I) providing a plurality of Group A particles of a Group A sorbent material, said Group A sorbent material comprising: an activated carbon matrix defining a plurality of pores; sulfur; and an additive adapted for promoting the removal of at least one of As, Cd, Hg and Se from a fluid stream, wherein the additive is distributed throughout the activated carbon matrix; and (II) contacting the fluid stream with a plurality of Group A particles of the Group A sorbent material. The process can involve powder injection, a packed sorbent bed, a fluidized sorbent bed, and combinations thereof.
Abstract:
A process wherein a polymer, such as DNA, having a defined chemical composition and size is used to template the alignment of polarizing species, such as optically active organic dyes or metal nanoparticles having defined compositional characteristics and/or size and shape characteristics, on a surface to manufacture a thin film polarizer; a process where metal nanorods are aligned on a substrate surface or inside a substrate to make a polarizer; and a polarizer thus made. Multi-layered polarizing structure can be created by using the process of the present invention.
Abstract:
Novel photovoltaic structures comprising an insulator structure bonded to an exfoliation layer, preferably of a substantially single-crystal donor semiconductor wafer, and at least one photovoltaic device layer, such as a conductive layer, and systems and methods of production of a photovoltaic device, comprising creating on a donor semiconductor wafer an exfoliation layer and transferring the exfoliation layer to an insulator substrate.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods for making SOI and SOG structures using ion shower for implanting ions to the donor substrate. The ion shower provides expedient, efficient, low-cost and effective ion implantation while minimizing damage to the exfoliation film.
Abstract:
Battery system and method for producing electricity and hydrogen. The system dissipates heat as electrolyte fluid flows through a battery to generate reaction products in an exothermic reaction.
Abstract:
Methods for reducing microbial contamination present in a sample of cannabis plant material by exposure to ozone in an ozone chamber are disclosed herein.
Abstract:
A series of cells for use in an electrochemical device, such as an electrochemical cell or battery, that can operate in a single bulk electrolyte solution shared among the cells. Methods of producing hydrogen or both hydrogen and electricity in appreciable quantities and in various ratios, and vehicles or other devices and applications powered by electrochemical devices comprising the series.
Abstract:
Solid form nutrient compositions for use in delivering nutrients, such as iron sources, to plants and animals, including infant pigs, are provided. Embodiments include such solid form nutrient compositions, methods for making such compositions, compositions made by such methods, and methods for delivering nutrients to plants or animals with such compositions.
Abstract:
Components having one or more sensors adapted to provide sensor data relating to a condition(s) of the component are disclosed. The component is adapted to communicate with another mating component to associate sensor data with identity information of the mating component. The sensor and identity information can be communicated remotely including via radio-frequency communications employing RF identification devices (RFIDs). Location of the mating component can be determined using the identity information of the mating component. In this manner, the sensor data can be associated with the location of the mating component using the identity information in a "component-to-component" configuration to provide location-specific sensor data. Having the ability to localize sensor data to a specific location can assist in pinpointing areas where performance or other condition issues may exist in a component, a mating component, an article of manufacture associated with the components, and/or communication and/or transmissions lines coupled between components.
