A method to change the color of hair. The method includes measuring an initial reflectance spectrum of a sample of the hair and analyzing a contribution of a plurality of natural hair factors to the initial reflectance spectrum. The method also includes calculating a hair treatment based on another reflectance spectrum. A system to measure a reflectance spectrum of a sample includes an integrating sphere having a sampling port and an inner surface and a window disposed near the sampling port. The window is configured for being placed in close contact with the sample. The system also includes a light source configured to project light onto the sample via the window and a light detector configured to analyze light reflected from the inner surface to produce the reflectance spectrum of the sample.

Method for measuring friction in a hair sample, comprising: (a) providing a friction member; (b) drawing it through the hair, generating a frictional noise signal; and (c) capturing the signal by a noise sensor. Device suitable for use in said method, comprising comb means having a plurality of tines and a noise sensor arranged to capture frictional noise generated by passage of comb means through the hair. System for assessing the level of damage in a hair sample, comprising: (a) defining hair categories; (b) associating with each category a standard trace representative of the frictional noise signal generated when a standard sample in that category is subjected to said method; (c) assigning the sample to one of the categories; (d) carrying out said method on the sample; (e) visually displaying the frictional noise signal generated as a trace; (f) and comparing the sample's trace with the standard trace associated with the category.

System for determining hair and scalp parameters of a user and for recommending hair products comprising an image acquisition module (12) capable of acquiring at least one first photograph of the scalp and of its proximal region under illumination by white light and at least one second photograph of the same zone of the scalp and of its proximal region under illumination by blue-ultraviolet light, an analysis module (16) capable of receiving and analysing said photographs in order to determine parameters of the hair and of the scalp and a display device (18) capable of receiving and displaying information transmitted by the analysis module (16). Said analysis module is capable of recommending at least one hair product according to said determined parameters.

A system and method for diagnosing skin and/ or hair condition is disclosed. The system comprises: a mobile device connected to a camera to acquire an image of the skin and/ or hair condition; an extraction module to identify markers associated with the skin and/ or hair condition from the image; a plurality of databases comprising information on the diagnosis and treatment and management of the skin and/ or hair conditions; and an inference module to diagnose the skin and/ or hair condition and to propose a treatment and/ or management option for the diagnosed skin and/ or hair condition based on consultation of the plurality of databases.

A method, system and device for determining the properties of hair and skin. The method, system and device facilitates the selection and application of an application of a product to the hair or skin of an individual to achieve a desired target result. The hair or skin properties measured may include the hair composition and chemical components of the hair, as well as substances that may coat the hair, and other substances on, absorbed or adsorbed on or into the hair. A hyper-spectral imaging component is employed to obtain information from the hair or skin and that information is used to provide a produce used to produce the target result.

It describes a method for assessing hair conditions, conceived to prescribe a customized cosmetic treatment and/or product, comprising the following steps: A) obtaining information about the hair of at least one user by means of at least one questionnaire with at least one question that combines parameters of tactile perception of hair with at least three attributes, defined by softness, combing and coarseness; B) inserting the information obtained in step A in a matrix for classification of hair damages, in order to obtain at least one classification about the hair conditions of the user; C) associating the classification about the hair condition of the user obtained in step B with the characteristics of at least one cosmetic product stored in a database that stores registrations of at least one cosmetic product, in order to obtain at least one result about the customized cosmetic treatment and/or product; and D) prescribing to the user at least one customized cosmetic treatment and/or product according to the result obtained in step C. It is also describes a system for diagnosing the hair conditions by using at least one matrix for classification of hair damages and one database.

Disclosed herein is a method for assessing damages of keratin fibers using a mesh. Said methods are useful for assessing the degree of damages of keratin fibers and also to compare the damages of fibers of different origin, different portions of fibers and/or fibers treated with different cosmetic, chemical and/or mechanical treatments. Said methods are also useful for supporting advertising claims about the efficacy of a treatment.
