Abstract:
A defibrillator (AED) and method for using a defibrillator incorporates a user activated button which truncates an ongoing ECG analysis to immediately perform a different defibrillator-related function. For example, the AED may use two different ECG analysis algorithms having different sensitivities to a shockable cardiac rhythm, and a press of the button may automatically shift from a first algorithm to a second algorithm with the higher sensitivity. The button may also allow truncation of ongoing analysis and CPR for immediate preparation for electrotherapy.
Abstract:
A CPR chest compression machine includes a retention structure (140) configured to retain a patient's (182) body, and a compression mechanism (148) configured to perform automatically CPR compressions to the patient's (182) chest. The CPR machine also includes a camera (161) coupled to the retention structure (140) or to the compression mechanism (148). The camera (161) has a field of view (162) that spans at least a certain portion of the patient's (182) body, and is configured to acquire an image (407) of what is spanned by its field of view. The image (407) may be stored in a memory (130), displayed, transmitted, analyzed to diagnose the patient, detect shifting of the patient within the CPR machine, etc.
Abstract:
Es wird ein Gewebe-Behandlungsstab vorgeschlagen, der beidhändig geführt wird und dessen Behandlungsabschnitt mindestens eine Kante aufweist und während der Behandlung in Vibrationen versetzt wird.
Abstract:
A skin cleaning device (20) comprises a hand held unit which has a cleaning surface (22) for application to the skin, which comprises an array of orifices (24). Pressure is applied to the device in use, to manipulate the skin to assist in the removal of sebum. A force sensor for sensing a force applied by the hand held unit against the skin so that a user can be given guidance as to the desired force to apply for optimum effectiveness of the cleaning function.
Abstract:
A device for stimulating at least one cranial nerve and/or spinal nerve is described. The device includes a vibratory motor, and an earpiece, wherein the earpiece is molded substantially to fit within the external ear canal and contacting the concha of a subject's ear. A method of reducing migraine headache and trigeminal neuropathy pain is also described. The method includes positioning a vibratory earpiece within an ear of a subject, applying vibrational energy to at least a portion of the skin of at least one of the auditory canal, auricle and concha of the ear, thereby stimulating at least one sensory fiber of at least one of cranial nerve 5, cranial nerve 7, cranial nerve 9, cranial nerve 10, spinal nerve C2, and spinal nerve C3. A method to normalize breathing, normalize blood pressure, induce sleep, increase salivation, and improve vertigo, nausea, and visual dysfunction accompanying migraine is also described.
Abstract:
A system for applying compression treatment to a wearer's body includes a compression garment 10 positionable on the wearer's body. The garment includes an inflatable bladder and fasteners 14, 18. The fasteners are electrically conductive and form part of an electric circuit 22. Connection of the fasteners closes the electric circuit and disconnection of the fasteners opens the circuit. A controller 5 that provides air pressure to the garment is able to detect whether the electric circuit is opened or closed. The magnitude of the measured current of the electric circuit is compared to a certain current threshold. If the current is nonzero but its magnitude is not above the threshold, an indication is produced to indicate the connection that is present is not optimal for the best compression treatment.
Abstract:
A method for maintaining and/or increasing body temperature of a patient may involve delivering heat to a first location on a limb of the patient, delivering heat to a second location on the limb, apart from the first location, and applying intermittent compression to a third location on the limb, located between the first location and the second location. A device for maintaining and/or increasing body temperature of a patient may include a sleeve for positioning over at least part of one of the patient's limbs, first and second heat delivery members coupled with the sleeve, and an intermittent compression member coupled with the sleeve between the first and second heat delivery members.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device (1) for a controlled cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, said device enabling the user to carry out a quick and uncomplicated resuscitation of a human body in the event of a cardiac arrest. The geometric dimensions of the device (1) according to the invention are comparatively small, ranging approximately from 10 and 25 cm in diameter and approximately 6 to 12 cm in height. During use, a mechanical pressure (F) is exerted onto a first pressure transmitting means (2, 22), said mechanical pressure generating a signal (S3, S4), which is perceptible to human organs, upon reaching a maximal exerted force (Fmax), wherein the signal is triggered by a spring element (24, 44) which is arranged between the pressure transmitting means (2, 22) and the base plate (3, 33).
Abstract:
An apparatus for the treatment of osteopathic lesions of the pelvis comprises, in combination: a height-adjustable vibrating and rocking surface (1), on which the patient is rested; a main load-bearing structure (2); mobile means (5, 6, 6', 10) for laterally compressing the patient's pelvis during treatment (without blocking it) via purposely provided resting elements (7, 8). Said load-bearing structure (2) is equipped with means for adjusting, the height of the resting surface (1) for the patient, as well as with movement means for imposing on the vibrating and rocking surface (1) a vibrational motion and movement of craniocaudal inclination with preferably arrhythmic motion, where said vibrational motion is designed to reduce muscle retraction linked to the lesions of the pelvis.
