Abstract: In embodiments, a CPR chest compression system includes a retention structure that can retain the patient's body, and a compression mechanism that can perform automatically CPR compressions and releases to the patient's chest. The compression mechanism can pause the performing of the CPR compressions for a short time, so that an attendant can check the patient. In some embodiments the compression mechanism includes a plunger, which can remain somewhat lifted during the pause. The CPR system also includes a user interface that can output a human-perceptible check patient prompt, to alert an attendant to check the patient during the pause. An advantage can be when the attendant checks in situations where the condition of the patient might have changed, and an adjustment is needed, or situations where the patient has improved enough to where the compressions are no longer needed.

Abstract: A decision support definitions library stores one or more decision support definitions for providing appropriate treatment paths. A device management library stores device and configuration setting information on one or more devices associated with an organization, the configuration setting including information on smart agents residing on the one or more devices. A decision support definition editor is configured to modify a selected one or more decision support definitions and one or more device and configuration settings. A decision support definition generator is configured to create an installation configuration file including an entry for each of a selected one or more decision support definitions, wherein each entry comprises: (i) information that identifies the respective decision support definition, (ii) configuration information, and (iii) information that identifies an installation program. A deployment manager is configured to distribute the installation configuration file and the smart agent with selected decision support definitions.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for prompting emergency medical personnel who are attending to a patient. When the patient presents a heart rhythm that is a non-perfusing and non-shockable rhythm or perfusing but unstable, the attending personnel are prompted to administer therapy, such as reestablishing perfusion by performing CPR. The attending personnel may also be urged to defer taking the pulse of the patient.

Abstract: A non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP) measurement system that includes a blood pressure cuff and a non-invasive blood pressure monitor. The blood pressure cuff including an inner portion that is selectively inflatable and an outer portion that is rigid or semi-rigid. The outer portion reducing external stimuli on the inner portion. The inner portion connected to a sensor coupled to the NIBP monitor, the sensor sensing a pressure of the inner portion. The NIBP monitor receiving the sensor data and processing the sensor data to determine a blood pressure of a patient about which the blood pressure cuff has been placed.

Abstract: A conductive fluid reservoir can be used to dispense conductive fluid to increase electrical connectivity between an electrode of a defibrillator and a patient. The reservoir includes a container that holds the conductive fluid, one or more outlets on the container, and an inflatable pouch located at least partially within the container. The inflatable pouch is capable of being inflated from a deflated state to an inflated state. In the deflated state, a free end of the inflatable pouch covers the one or more outlets. In the inflated state, the free end of the inflatable pouch is removed from the one or more outlets such that the conductive fluid is allowed to flow out of the container via the one or more outlets. Inflating the inflatable pouch causes the conductive fluid to be dispensed from the reservoir.

Abstract: Devices, systems, software and methods for CPR quality assessment. Patient data (134) is received, derived from a session of administering sets (451-456) of CPR chest compressions to a patient (182). The sets can be separated by pauses (461-466). In some embodiments, a penalty value can be determined for at least one of the pauses, from at least one control factor unrelated to a constant linear dependence on the pause duration. An indicative value (378) can be derived from the penalty value. In some embodiments, at least some of the pauses are classified in one or more pause groups (1481-1483), depending on how well they meet one or more classification criteria. The indicative value can be derived for one of the pause groups. The indicative value can be output, and/or an alarm can be emitted if it exceeds a threshold.
