A driver tool configured to engage and drive the head of a threaded fastener includes a shank defining a longitudinal axis. The shank has a mating end and a driver end. A driver head is coupled to the shank adjacent the driver end. The driver head includes a first driving portion having a substantially square cross section normal to the axis and a geometric center along the axis. The first driving portion includes four walls and a corner at an intersection of adjacent walls such that the first driving portion includes a first corner, a second corner, a third corner opposite the first corner, and a fourth corner opposite the second corner. The driver head further includes a second driving portion including a first flange extending radially outward from the first driving portion and a second flange extending radially outward from the first driving portion. The second flange is opposite the first flange, and each of the flanges includes an end wall having a midpoint. A plane passing through the first corner and the third corner of the first driving portion passes through the midpoints of the end walls of the second driving portion.

A radial foldout tool includes a body with opposing ends and one or more sets of tool drivers. A first set of tool drivers are positioned on/near a first end and a second set of tool drivers are positioned on/near a second end. The tool drivers are contained within channels of the body when in a closed position. The tool drivers are also contained in a plurality of planes. The tool drivers open by rotating/moving in a direction at least perpendicular to a neighboring tool driver. When they are in an open position, each of the tool drivers are in/near the center of the end of the body. By being positioned in/near the center of the end, the radial foldout tool is able to be gripped and turned in a fashion similar to a standard screwdriver.

La présente invention concerne une vis (1) comportant une tige filetée (2) ainsi qu'une tête d'entraînement (3) de section sensiblement circulaire ou polygonale et ayant à son extrémité opposée à la tige filetée une surface supérieure (4), ladite tête (3) comprenant une partie centrale creuse (5) délimitée à son extrémité opposée à la tige filetée (2) par ladite surface supérieure (4) et s'étendant axialement en direction de la tige filetée (2) à partir de ladite surface supérieure (4), cette partie centrale creuse (5) formant au moins deux branches d'entraînement (6.1 , 6.2, 6.3) situées à l'intérieur de la tête d'entraînement (3). Ladite partie centrale creuse (5) est délimitée latéralement par une surface latérale courbe ou polygonale (7) d'une forme spécifique. A system for driving a screw, comprising a screw and a corresponding tool, the screw head having a hexalobular slot (2) in the upper surface of the screw head, an upper peripheral wall (9) of hexalobular planform extending down into the screw head, the upper peripheral wall (9) being parallel or near parallel to the axis of the screw, a sloping transition surface (15) extending downwardly and inwardly with respect to the lower edge of the upper peripheral wall (9), and a tapered recess (11) extending downwardly from the lower edge of the sloping transition surface (15), in which the dimensions of the screw head are such that when the screw head is engaged by a tool (6) having upper (16) and lower (17) engagement sections, and in which the upper engagement section (16) is tapered downwardly at an angle with respect to the axis of the screw to which the tool is to engage and the lower engagement section (17) is tapered downwardly, so that there is a 'stick fit' between the surface of the tapered recess (11) and the external surface of the lower tapered engagement section (17), and there is no engagement with the sloping transition surface (15).

A fixation apparatus is disclosed having a head portion having outer wall sections at least partially surrounding a central hollow area, and the head portion also having an inner bottom surface. A shank portion can extend from the head portion. An expander hub is provided for positioning at least partially within the central hollow area of the head portion and can be seated at least partially on the inner bottom surface of the head portion. The expander hub is rotatable to force the outer wall sections of the head portion outwardly for engaging and locking the fixation apparatus in place when the fixation apparatus is positioned within a hole of a plate. The fixation apparatus can advantageously be used with a plate whereby the fixation apparatus and plate can compress bone separately from locking the fixation apparatus in a desired position.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Schraubwerkzeug, insbesondere Schraubendreher oder Schraubendrehereinsatz (1) mit einer Drehmomenteinbringzone (2) und einer profilierten, in die Schraubwerkzeugeinstecköffnung (16) einer Schraube (17) einsteckbaren Arbeitsspize (3), wobei die Arbeitsspitze (3) einen im Wesentlichen kegelstumpfförmigen Kern (4) und von der Kegelstumpfmantelfläche (5) radial abragende, in Achsrichtung verlaufende Rippen (6) aufweist, wobei die von einem Kopf (7) jeder Rippe ausgehenden, voneinander wegweisenden Flanken (8) der Rippen (6) mit einem gerundeten Fussbereich (9) in die Kegelmantelfläche (5) übergehen. Wesentlich ist, dass der Fussbereich der Flanke (8) in einer Rille (10) liegt, wobei die Rille (10) einen gerundeten Grund aufweist.

Bei einer Vorrichtung mit zwei etwa im rechten Winkel zueinander angeordneten Hohlprofilen (10, 10 a ), deren jedes einen zu seiner Profillängsachse (A) parallelen Profilkanal (14) sowie in zumindest einer Profilseitenfläche (20) eine zum Profilkanal (14) parallele hinterschnittene Längsnut (22) aufweist, sind die beiden Hohlprofile (10, 10 a ) durch eine Verbindungsschraube (30, 30 a ) zusammengehalten, deren Schaft (32) in den Profilkanal (14) des einen Hohlprofils (10) eingreift und deren Schraubenkopf (36) in einer hinterschnittenen Längsnut (22) des anderen Hohlprofils (10 a ) lagert. Der Schraubenkopf (36) ist an seinem Umfang mit Nuten bzw. Kerben (43) versehen, welche in von der Schaftlängsachse (M) ausgehenden Ebenen verlaufen und zwischen sich Rippen (44) bilden. Zudem verjüngt sich der Schraubenkopf (36) zu einer vom Schaft (32) fernen Kopffläche (50) hin konisch, und diese in einem Winkel (w) zur Schaftlängsachse (M) geneigte Wandfläche (42) ist mit den Nuten oder Kerben (43) bzw. den Rippen (44) versehen.

A screw (10) having a screw-threaded shank (14) and a circular head (12), the head being provided with three radially extending screwdriver tip receiving portions (16; 18; 20) defined between three first, off-central integrally formed projections (16a; 18a; 20a) designed to become shaved-off the screw head by a pre-set shear force applied during tightening of the screw, and three second, integrally formed projections (16c; 18c; 20c) designed to withstand a shear force greater than the said pre-set force applied during slackening of the screw.
