The bearing connection interface is formed by a first insert (110) and the further connection interface is formed by a second insert (130, 140), which are joined via a composite body (120) comprising a fibre-reinforced material that is overmoulded to the first and second inserts. According to the invention, the bearing connection interface and the further connection interface are additionally joined by one or more continuous fibre tows that are wound around parts of an outer surface of the first and second inserts.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a flanged bearing ring comprising a flange part joined to a ring part (120). The flange part is at least partly made of a fibre-reinforced matrix material, which is overmoulded to the ring part. The flange part further comprises a first connection interface for enabling a component such as a vehicle wheel to be screwed or bolted to the flange part. The first connection interface comprises a plurality of bolt inserts (131, 132, 133, 134, 1 35) which are embedded in the fibre- reinforced matrix material. According to the invention, at least one bolt insert is joined to the ring part (120) by a continuous fibre tow (171, 172, 173, 174, 175) that is wound around part of an outer surface of the bolt insert and of the ring part. Suitably, each bolt insert is joined to the ring part in this manner.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a steering knuckle (100) comprising a bearing connection interface for connecting a wheel bearing to the steering knuckle and comprises further connection interfaces for connecting the steering knuckle to an upper and a lower control arm of a vehicle suspension. The bearing connection interface is formed by a sleeve element (110), whereby a bore of the sleeve element is adapted to receive an outer ring of the wheel bearing or is adapted to serve as the outer ring. Each further connection interface is formed by a bracket (130, 140) for connection of a ball joint. The sleeve element and the bracket are joined via a composite body (120) comprising a fibre-reinforced material. The fibre-reinforced material comprises a long-fibre moulding compound that is overmoulded to a first joining surface on the sleeve element (110) and to a second joining surface on the bracket (130, 140), whereby the first joining surface is a radially outer surface of the sleeve element. In addition, the first joining surface is provided with a recessed portion into which the long-fibre moulding compound flows, for mechanically locking the sleeve element (110) to the composite body (120) in an axial direction.
Abstract:
A spar cap (24), a rotor blade (4), a wind turbine (2) and a method of manufacturing a spar cap is provided. A spar cap for a rotor blade of a wind turbine comprises a fiber- reinforced member (26) and at least a first edge member (30). The fiber-reinforced member comprises a first side (32) which is arranged towards a leading edge (16) of the rotor blade and a second side (34) which is arranged towards a trailing edge (18) of the rotor blade. The at least first edge member is arranged adjacent to the first side or adjacent to the second side of the fiber-reinforced member. The first edge member projects towards a leading edge of the rotor blade or towards a trailing edge of the rotor blade.
Abstract:
