Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods of manufacturing moulded products, for example building panels, and in particular, but not exclusively, to manufacturing a panel comprising natural stone or rock set into a polymeric layer. The method of manufacturing a moulded product as described herein comprises at least one article being set into a polymeric layer, followed by placing the at least one article and particulate ferrous material in a container so that at least a portion of the or each article is embedded in the particulate ferrous material, introducing a polymeric material into the container to form the moulded product, and removing the moulded product from the container.

Abstract:
Abstract:
Filter cartridge arrangements, features, and methods of construction are described. Also described are filter assemblies having the filter cartridge installed therein as a removable service component. The filter cartridge generally comprises a media pack having an end with an end piece positioned thereon. The end piece includes an end cap section and a seal support. A seal member is secured in the end cap. Methods of assembly and use are described.
Abstract:
A method of manufacture of a structural member comprising, providing a number of intern al elements, each having an aperture formed therein, sequentially assembling the internal elements onto a longitudinal element such that the longitudinal element passes through the aperture of each internal element, and wrapping an outer skin around the assembled internal elements and longitudinal element. A structural member is thus produced having a number of internal elements, each internal element having a longitudinal axis aligned with the longitudinal axis of the remaining internal elements, and having a continuous outer skin formed over the internal elements.
Abstract:
A process for making a multilayer plastic tube heat exchanger with a ribbon (16) of molten polymer being poured over layers of tubes (22), and then another layer of tubes (22) being added and another ribbon (16) of polymer. Heat exchanger structures so formed are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A preformed component or "preform" (11) for a structural member has a planar base with two longitudinal legs (15, 17) extending in parallel from the base (13). A channel (19) is defied between the legs (15, 17) for insertion of a plat panel (31) that forms the web of the structural member. The preform (11) is a composite material having continuous filaments of woven or braided fiber (21). The preform (11) is impregnated with a thermoset resin that bonds the web of the flange of the structural member. The perform (11) provides excellent structural support even if the web of the flange are formed from dissimilar materials such as metallic and composite. The resin is structurally reinforced with oriented fibers in such a manner as to provide coupling strength between the joined members.
Abstract:
A tight seal is achieved in a blood oxygenator (10) between the potting of the heat exchanger fibers (22) and the rim (42) of the heat exchanger container (14) by extending the potting material (26) over the rim (42) and down, so that when the potting material (26) shrinks during cure, the potting (26) will become prestressed in the sealing direction against an outwardly facing wall of the container (14). The invention also provides a ring (50) coextensive with the rim (42) and spaced therefrom. The potting (26) extends into the ring (50). This forms an air gap (62) between the rim (42) and the ring (50) through which potting (26) can extend. As a result, there is no possible leakage path between the blood and the heat-exchange medium. Any leak that does occur discharges to atmosphere outside the container (14).
Abstract:
The invention concerns a wheel, of which the peripheral part (18) has axially separated circular annular flange parts (40), which form running surfaces (42) on the wheel. The wheel is made of complementary wheel halves, where each wheel half (12) on its peripheral part (18) has a groove (30) extending completely around each wheel half. The grooves (30) on the wheel haves communicate with each other through openings, whereby the peripheral parts (18) of the wheel halves are held together by an elastic material (58) injected into the grooves and openings. The invention also concerns a method for manufacturing such a wheel. In the method, the peripheral parts of the wheel halves are fixed together by injection of an elastic material in mutually communicating spaces (30) extending around the wheel halves. These spaces are located radially inside the peripheral surface parts (44) of the wheel.
Abstract:
A method of making an article of footwear having printed structures disposed on the article by a three-dimensional printer is disclosed. The printed structures include extended portions and fastener receiving portions. The extended portions are at least partially embedded in the upper. The fastener receiving portions are at least partially spaced apart from an exterior surface of the upper.
