Abstract:
A retainer (10) for releasably locking the male (14) and female (12) components of a quick connector (16). The retainer (10) is releasably insertible into a transverse bore (22) in the female component (12) and is blocked from full insertion by a projection. An extension (80) projects from the retainer (10) and has an aperture (88) sized to receive the tip end (41) of the male component (14), but blocks a radial flange (42) on the male component (14) when the retainer (10) is partially inserted into the female component (12). Forced insertion of the male component (14) breaks off a ring portion (86) of the extension (80) thereby enabling the radial flange (42) on the male component (14) to fully move into the female component (12). The retainer (10) can then be urged into the fully latched position locking the male and female components (12, 14). Lock projections (202) on the retainer (10) engage grooves (204) in the bore (22) in the female component (12) to releasably lock the retainer (10) in a partially inserted, shipping position in the female component (12) and engage exterior lock surfaces on the housing of the female component (12) on full insertion of the retainer (10) to lock the retainer (10) to the female component (12).
Abstract:
The present invention is a quick connector preferably for use in connecting a fuel filler neck (24) to a fuel tank. The connector includes a housing (12) having a first end (15) which receives a tube (24) or nipple having an upset portion (26) which is preferably mounted to the fuel tank. The connector includes a sliding collar (14) with expandable fingers (42), a compression ring (16) mounted about the collar (14) and retaining fork (18) for retaining the collar (14) and ring (16) within the housing (12). The upset can be inserted past the expandable fingers (42) with little force. When the tube (24) is attempted to be withdrawn, the compression ring (16) compresses the fingers about the tube (24) restricting release requiring exceedingly larger forces to remove the tube (24). The opposite end of the connector of the disclosed embodiment includes a quick connect for connecting a hose (28) to the housing (12). This connector includes a compression sleeve (68) which is mounted about the hose (28) and compressed by a locking means (90, 92) which locks to the housing (12).
Abstract:
An inventive tubing connector includes a tube (22) having an upset portion (24) receiving within a housing (26). A retainer (30) is positioned between an outer end of the housing and the upset portion to prevent tube removal. A seal (48) within the housing provides a fluid tight seal between the housing and the tube. The seal is preferably formed of toughened fluorosilicone, such that it provides a secure fluid tight seal over a temperature range down to about -50 DEG below zero.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a fitting assembly (10) for corrugated tubing comprising a first sleeve part (11) being attachable to the an object (50) to which a corrugated tube (40) is to be connected and a second sleeve part (12) configured to be fitted in to the first sleeve part (11) and to which the corrugated tube (40) is sealably attachable, and in which fitting assembly (10): -the first sleeve part (11) comprises a receiving end (14) for receiving the second sleeve part (12) and an attachment end (13) being attachable to an opening (51) formed to an object (50) to which the fitting assembly (10) is to be attached, -the second sleeve part (12) comprises a receiving portion (22) sealably connectable to the first sleeve part (11). Furthermore, the fitting assembly (10) according to invention comprises attachment means (22, 26, 27) for attaching and sealing the corrugated tube (40) to the second sleeve part (12) such that when the second sleeve part (12) is attached to the first sleeve part (11), the corrugated tube (40) extends outside the fitting assembly (10) through the attachment end (13) of the first sleeve part (11).
Abstract:
The quick release tool includes a U-shaped body which presents a base that has a first side and a second side. The body also has a pair of legs that are spaced laterally from one another and extend away from the first side of the base to respective distal ends. Each of the distal ends presents a pair of ledges that are spaced longitudinally from one another to receive fingers on the locker of the quick connector assembly. The base of the U-shaped body presents a living hinge which is spaced laterally between the legs for pivoting the distal ends of the legs away from one another in response to the application of a force onto the second side of the base, thereby allowing the locker to be moved from the locked position to the unlocked position.
