Abstract:
The invention concerns a process for preparing short-chain alkyl sulphates in which alcohols of formula (I), R OH, in which R stands for a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl group with between 6 and 12 carbon atoms, are sulphated with a mixture of SO3 and inert gas in a stirrer vessel cascade arrangement comprising at least two stirrer vessels which can be supplied with gas independently of each other. The alcohols are then neutralized with aqueous bases. Sulphation is carried out in the presence of acid anionic surfactants of formula (II), R OSO3H, in which R has the above meaning. In this way, high yields of high-quality alkyl sulphates are obtained and the risk of explosive alcohol mixtures igniting in the exhaust air purified by electrostatic filters is simultaneously prevented.
Abstract:
The present invention refers to a route for the conversion of ethane to ethylene glycol which involves reacting ethane with concentrated sulfuric acid in the presence of an iodine compound. In particular, the present invention includes a process for the production of ethylene glycol from shale gas.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for the synthesis of organosulfate salts of amino acid esters comprising the steps of reacting at least one lactam with at least 3 carbon atoms in the lactam ring with sulfuric acidin an aqueous solution followed by esterification of the reaction product of the previous step with at least 200 mol-% of at least one alcohol selected from the group consisting of linear alkyl alcohol containing one hydroxy group, branched alkyl alcohol containing one hydroxy group, linear alkylether alcohol containing one hydroxy group, branched alkylether alcohol containing one hydroxy group, phenoxyalkanols containing one hydroxy group, and mixtures thereof; followed optionally removal of water and/or removal of excess alcohol.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A method of preparing a substantially anhydrous composition of alkyl (ethoxy) sulphate neutralized with an organic amine base is described, the said composition being suitable for use as a surfactant in an ecodose, i.e. a detergent for washing machine comprised of a pre-dosed liquid detergent for washing machine in a sealed capsule made of a water soluble material, such as for example a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for preparing alkoxylated alcohols, wherein an alkoxylated alcohol which contains more than 200 parts per million by weight of a Group IA or Group IIA metal ion is contacted with a sulfonic acid. The resulting alkoxylated alcohol may then be sulfated by contacting it with a sulfating agent.
