A method for manufacturing a part selected from a plurality of part types is disclosed. The method involves the step of selecting, from a supply of workpieces, a workpiece of a type that is associated with the type of part selected, the workpiece having a void and a substantially annular outer surface. Using a lathe, the selected workpiece is machined into the selected part. The workpiece, during the machining step, is mounted to the lathe by a collet associated with the type of part selected. The collet is an expanding collet which, during machining, is received by the void and engages the workpiece in gripping relation. The part can be a bushing for an aircraft landing gear and the workpiece can be an oversized bushing. The method can be carried out at an aircraft repair facility and the oversized bushings can be procured from specialist fabricators.

The present invention relates to a production method for the screw of an icemaker, in which the screw provided in an icemaker is produced using a machine tool. The method comprises: a cutting-tip-provision stage in which cutting tips are provided on a rough-, an intermediate- and a fine- cutting tool; a workpiece and tool provision stage in which the workpiece, and each of the rough-, intermediate- and fine- cutting tools are provided on a CNC lathe; a code-inputting stage in which a code is input into the CNC lathe to allow cut processing; a rough-cutting processing stage in which the workpiece undergoes a rough-cutting process with the rough-cutting tool; an intermediate-cutting processing stage in which the workpiece undergoes an intermediate-cutting process with the intermediate-cutting tool; and a fine-cutting processing stage in which the workpiece undergoes a fine-cutting process with the fine-cutting tool, and the production of the screw is completed. The production method for the screw of an icemaker according to the present invention is advantageous in that, not only does it reduce the cost of the screw provided inside the icemaker, but it also makes it easy to carry out rough-cutting, intermediate-cutting and fine-cutting through the use of a widely used CNC lathe and the rough-cutting tool, intermediate-cutting tool and fine-cutting tool which are provided on the CNC lathe, and it allows inexpensive manufacture of screws which are provided inside icemakers even at small and medium sized enterprises where high-priced machines are not installed.
