Abstract:
A catheter adapter assembly includes an adapter body and a slider body. The adapter body includes a distal end portion configured to receive a catheter, a coupling disposed on the distal end portion, and a fitting on the proximal end portion. The slider body is disposed about the adapter body and axially slides along the adapter body. The slider body includes a release, a latch disposed at a distal end of the release, and a flexing portion disposed at a proximal end of the release. The slider body also includes compression element that compresses the tubular catheter receiver in response engagement of the latch and the coupling. A catheter adapter system comprising the catheter adapter assembly and a nest that holds the catheter adapter assembly is also disclosed.
Abstract:
An antiseptic dead-end cap includes a base having first and second sides, a first annular wall extending from the first side of the base, a cylindrical center plug extending from the first side of the base, and a second annular wall extending from the second side of the base. The first annular wall has an outer and an inner surface. The cylindrical center plug has an outer and an inner surface, and is positioned within the first annular wall to form an annular chamber. The second annular wall has an outer and an inner surface, and defines a second chamber having an open end. The second chamber is further defined by the inner surface of the cylindrical center plug. An antiseptic material is on at least one of the first annular wall inner surface, second annular wall inner surface, second annular wall outer surface, and cylindrical center plug outer surface.
Abstract:
An illuminating bridle catheter installation system includes a flexible member having a leading end and a trailing end with a first magnet coupled to the leading end of the flexible member, and a retrieving member having a leading end and a trailing end with two non-contacting second magnets coupled to the leading end of the retrieving member. An illuminating member is coupled to one of the flexible member or the retrieving member and the illuminating member is coupled to an electronic circuit having a switch that allows the illuminating member to be illuminated when the first magnet meets the second magnets.
Abstract:
A microwave ablation system configured for use in luminal network is provided. The microwave ablation system includes a microwave energy source and a tool for treating tissue. An extended working channel is configured to provide passage for the tool. A locatable guide, translatable through the extended working channel, is configured to navigate the extended working channel adjacent a target.
Abstract:
A microwave ablation system configured for use in luminal network is provided. The microwave ablation system includes a microwave energy source. A tool for treating tissue is provided with the microwave ablation system. An extended working channel is configured to provide passage for the tool. A locatable guide catheter is positionable through the extended working channel and configured to navigate the extended working channel adjacent the target tissue. The microwave ablation system includes a navigation system that is configured for guiding the tool, extended working channel or the locatable guide through a luminal network following a predetermined determined pathway to the target tissue. One or more imaging modalities may be utilized for confirming placement of the tool within target tissue.
Abstract:
An assembly for mounting medical connector caps includes a carrier formed from a sheet of material and having an array of holes. The assembly also includes a plurality of medical connector caps. Each cap is inserted into one of the holes of the array. The assembly also includes a plurality of sealing tabs. A distinct sealing tab includes a cover portion that sealingly covers the openable end of a corresponding one of the caps and includes an overhang portion that overhangs the openable end thereof. The overhang portion is dimensioned to include a tether of sufficient length that a tip of the tether overlaps an adjacent portion of the carrier. The tip is affixed to the carrier, so that the corresponding one of the caps is tethered to the carrier by such sealing tab.
Abstract:
A blood flow conduit includes a first conduit portion (26) defining a first portion of a lumen and blood flow path, and a second conduit portion (30) defining a second portion of a lumen and blood flow path. The first portion of the lumen has a smoother surface for contacting the blood flow than the second portion of the lumen. A discontinuity such as a tip portion 26a is positioned between the first and second portions of the lumen.
Abstract:
In accordance with aspects of the present invention, an applicator assembly suitable for application of a catheter patch about an insertion site of a percutaneous device includes a body having a distal end, a proximal end, and laterally extending right and left side gripping members, a pull tab member attached toward the proximal end of the body, and a release tab connected to the pull tab member, wherein the release tab is positioned toward the distal end of the body so that a lower surface of the release tab abuts an upper surface of the body. The release tab may have a securing mechanism for securing a catheter patch to a lower surface of the body toward the distal end of the body. A method of applying a catheter patch about an insertion site of a percutaneous device using an applicator assembly is provided.
Abstract:
A modular catheter comprises a tubular sheath module having one or more electrodes attached to the distal end of the tubular sheath and an elongate shape imparting mechanism module. The shape imparting mechanism module is removably received within a lumen defined by the tubular member. The tubular sheath module and the shape imparting mechanism module are releasably connectable to a handle module. The handle comprises a plurality of wall members defining a cavity housing one or more modules releasably connected to the handle and accessible by at least partially separating the wall members. The tubular sheath, the shape imparting mechanism module and the handle are replaceable independently and can be sterilised for subsequent use.
Abstract:
A catheter anchoring system, apparatus and method for securing a catheter to a patient's skin, having two flexible side members and a cross-member therebetween to which a retaining assembly is mounted. The retaining assembly may hold a catheter hub at an angle for patient comfort. Gripping tabs secure to each retaining assembly side are gripped while advancing a cannula guide needle into the patient's vein and while attaching the catheter hub to a medical accessory, such as intravenous (I.V.) tubing, for increased patient comfort, reduction of the risk in contamination and patient infection, and to more easily and quickly start an I.V.
