Abstract:
A securement device configured to secure an external portion of a medical device to the skin surface of a patient after an internal portion of the device has been placed in the patient is disclosed. The securement device includes a retainer that is employed to securely retain the external portion of the medical device in place. The retainer is attached to a base, such as an adhesive pad that adhesively attaches to the skin surface. In one embodiment, therefore, a retainer comprises a body defining a channel configured to receive therein a portion of the medical device, and at least one foot extending from the body that is configured to stabilize the retainer with respect to a skin surface. The retainer body further includes a nose that is configured to deflect a portion of the external portion of the medical device toward the skin insertion site.
Abstract:
A retention member (1) for securing a catheter (2) on a patient (P) comprises a base element (10) having a bottom side (103) and a top side (104), the bottom side being placeable on the patient (P) and the top side (104) being adapted for receiving the catheter (2). The retention member (1) furthermore comprises a ribbon (14) having a first end (140) connected to the top side (104) of the base element (10) and having a second end (141) opposite the first end (140), wherein the base element (10) comprises at least one opening (150, 151) through which the second end (141) of the ribbon (14) is insertable for fixing the catheter (2) on the retention member (1) in between the base element (10) and the ribbon (14). In this way a retention member is provided which is easy and safe to use, may suit to secure catheters of different sizes on a patient and at the same time may be manufactured in a cost-effective manner.
Abstract:
A device (100) for stabilizing a patient catheter includes a docking pod (150) with a body (153), an inlet (152), an outlet (153), an internal fluid path (151) between the inlet and the outlet, and a securement surface located on an underside of the docking pod. A docking pod adhesive layer located at least partially on the securement surface of the docking pod may secure the docking pod to the patient such that the securement surface and the docking pod adhesive layer form a generally planar or concave surface when secured to the patient. A valve mechanism (157) located within the internal fluid path of the docking pod may control fluid flow through the docking pod. The device may also have a luer connector that is fluidly connected to the outlet of the docking pod and configured to be connected to the catheter.
Abstract:
A safety needle assembly of an infusion set is disclosed. The needle assembly is configured to prevent fluid/vapor escape therefrom so as to reduce or prevent fluid exposure to a clinician using the needle assembly. In one embodiment, the needle assembly comprises a handle portion including a needle extending therefrom, the needle defining a lumen for passage of a fluid therethrough. The needle assembly also includes a safety assembly defining a needle hole through which the needle initially extends. The safety assembly is selectively and axially slidable along the needle in order to shield a distal tip of the needle and prevent user contact therewith. A fluid isolation component is included in the safety assembly for isolating fluid escape from the needle. In another embodiment, an interface pad is included on the bottom of the needle assembly and includes an antimicrobial and/or haemostatic agent to protect the needle insertion site.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A tool for deploying an anchor sleeve onto one or more implantable medical device bodies includes a holding element, on which the sleeve is mounted, and a base member having a channel, which receives the element in sliding engagement. A conduit of the holding element receives the one or more elongate bodies in sliding engagement. A deployment tip forms an opening of the channel, through which the holding element extends in sliding engagement, and which engages the mounted anchor sleeve for deployment thereof. The deployment tip may be provided as a separate component, wherein a distal segment of the base member is configured for attachment therewith; as such, the tip may be part of a deployment assembly that also includes the holding element. The deployment assembly may be selected from a plurality thereof included in a kit along with the base member.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for anchoring a catheter to a patient's skin using a catheter anchoring device are described. The catheter anchoring device includes one or more pairs of sharps with a sharpened end configured to pierce the surface of the skin. A locking mechanism for the sharps is used as a failsafe mechanism. The catheter anchoring device further includes a catheter clamp for securing a catheter to the catheter anchoring device.
