Abstract:
A new composition of matter, and more specifically a new compound, includes two or more highly resistive materials integrated into the chemistry of the grain boundary of an internal barrier layer capacitor material. This new compound includes a high permittivity and high resistivity dielectric compound. This new compound has high permittivity, high resistivity, and low leakage current. In certain examples the new compound can be used to create a dielectric energy storage device that is a battery with very high energy density, high operating voltage per cell, and an extended battery life cycle.
Abstract:
A personal shoe bag includes a main body having at least two protective shoe zones configured to receive and carry respective two personal shoes. Each protective shoe zone includes a wall with an image of a shoe visually indicating where to place, and how to orient, each of the two personal shoes. A first example shoe bag includes a single strap for a user to carry the shoe bag. A second example shoe bag includes two straps with a clip at the end of each strap. The clip can be removably attached to another separate personal carrying bag to facilitate carrying the shoe bag along with the other separate personal carrying bag.
Abstract:
Described is a novel spindle mounting assembly for use with a computer numeric controlled (CNC) machine, such as a drill tap machine. In one example an auto changer spindle mounting assembly includes a collar with a gas inlet. The collar defines a collar opening therethrough to create a passage between the first side of the collar with the second side of the collar. The collar further includes a passage in fluid communication between the gas inlet and through a nipple to the collar opening. The mounting assembly includes a manifold body with a gas outlet adapted to mate with the gas inlet of the collar, the manifold body defined a passage in fluid communications between, the gas outlet and a manifold body inlet. Also included is at least one extension bar, adapted to mechanically fasten to the manifold body to a computer controlled machine.
Abstract:
Photonic units for vector-vector multiplication, matrix-vector multiplication, matrix-matrix multiplication, batch matrix-matrix multiplication, and tensor-tensor multiplication are described. Multiplications are through coherent mixing and square-law detection. There are many dimensions - wavelength, vector mode, quadrature, and three dimensions of space - that can be used to construct photonic accelerators. The encoded input vector or input matrix is fanned out into a desired number of copies and mixed with the corresponding encoded local oscillators containing the weight vectors comprising the weight matrix. Any subset of two (three) dimensions can be used to construct photonic accelerators for matrix-vector (matrix- matrix) multiplications. Multiple dimensions can be combined into a hyperdimension to increase the scalability. Each dimension, each non-overlapping subset of a dimension, or each non- overlapping subset of a hyperdimension, can be used independently to construct a photonic tensor accelerator (PTA) for batch matrix multiplication, or tensor multiplication operations.
Abstract:
A system and method to control access to data are disclosed. An access request is received from a requesting device to access requested data and a context for the requesting device is determined. An access pattern for the requested data is determined based at least on the request and the context. A deviation between the context and the access pattern is determined and based on determining the deviation, a decision request to allow or deny the access request is sent. Based on a response to the decision request, access to the requested data is allowed.
Abstract:
A surgical sponge and fluid monitoring system and method are provided. The system (100) includes a support ring (104) for securely supporting a container (101) with at least one port opening (206) for placing sponges (204) into the container through the at least one port opening with the aid of gravity. The support ring includes IR emitters and sensors (604) that blanket IR beams (1402, 1404) across the at least one port opening. The support ring is mechanically linked to a load cell (706, 1329) in the system. The processor (1302), with novel methods, reliably detects when sponges are placed into the container through the at least one port opening, counts the number of sponges in the container, sorts the types of sponges, and calculates fluid loss for a patient in a surgical procedure. A user interface (1308, 114) in the monitoring system keeps the medical professionals (502) in the operating room fully informed.

A fixed relocatable wireless device (FRWD) (100) includes a self-contained communications system for providing full-time connectivity to the Internet and/or to Internet protocol (IP) addresses via a built-in wired and/or wireless interface. Once configured, the FRWD allows an external local device access to the Internet without drivers or additional software in the local device, and without an external computer. The FRWD includes an operating system and application software. The FRWD utilizes a cellular modem (830) as back-haul for connectivity to the Internet. The FRWD allows a voice call to be originated and/or terminated over cellular voice channels. The FRWD includes circuitry (800) and antennas (802 and 804) that are completely enclosed in a housing (110) shaped as an AC wall adapter.
Abstract:
A method for secure interaction with a website server capable of an authentication operation with a login operation checking a username and a password, is described. Standard web browsing environments are generally insecure and private information, such as passwords, are prone to theft. The proposed solution comprises securing the password used for the authentication in a trusted computing environment, such as a separate computer, without the need of revealing the password to a browser running in an untrusted computing environment, and basing the browsing on authentication data obtained as result of the login operation, that can be confirmed by the user in the trusted environment, prior of being performed.
Abstract:
A combined wind and photovoltaic solar energy production system is disclosed. One or more surfaces of the wind turbine blades are constructed of photovoltaic thin-film or have photovoltaic solar panels. Unlike prior art systems, in which photovoltaic material is placed on top of pre-existing wind turbine blades, the present application uses the photovoltaic material itself (e.g. the thin-film or solar panel) as the wind turbine blade. This makes for a simpler, light weight, and more cost-effective design. Multiple designs and embodiments are disclosed. The designs include vertical and horizontal axis pinwheel designs, paddle fan designs, paddle wheel designs, and tristar designs. Each of these designs may be combined. Cable support systems may be used to hold these designs to enable fast deployment and be an alternative where conventional solar and wind generators are unable to be installed because of topographical land issues or available real estate.
