Abstract: The present invention provides apparatus for laminating a generally planar object between two protective outer layers of material which is supplied with an adhesive coating and a removable covering on the adhesive coating, the apparatus comprising: a laminating station; means defining a guide path for the object which guide path extends into the laminating station; means for lifting off the removable covering from each of the two protective layers so as to expose the adhesive coatings; means for feeding the two layers into the laminating station such that the two exposed adhesive coatings face each other on either side of the feed path of the object; and means for applying pressure to the two layers when an object is sandwiched therebetween such that the adhesive causes the two layers to adhere to the object. Abstract: A method of manufacturing an electrode array for a photovoltaic cell array of the type in which the electrolyte within each cell is insulated from direct electrical contact with the electrolyte in neighbouring cells by means of fibres coated with a hot-melt adhesive, the method comprising: (a) transporting a supply of said coated fibres to a processing station; (b) depositing the coated fibres on to a substrate at the processing station; (c) applying heat to the coated fibres during the transport thereof to the processing station so as to raise the temperature of the adhesive to a value below its melting point; and (d) applying heat to the coated fibres during deposition thereof on to the substrate at the processing station so as to raise the temperature of the adhesive to its melting point.
