    Abstract: A method of measuring a sample with a probe, the probe comprising a cantilever mount, a cantilever extending from the cantilever mount to a free end, and a probe tip carried by the free end of the cantilever, the method comprising: taking a series of sidewall measurements of a sidewall of the sample with the probe; and analysing the series of sidewall measurements to determine a characteristic of the sidewall. The sidewall measurements are taken during a sidewall measurement cycle, comprising a pair of sidewall measurement drive phases. The pair of sidewall measurement drive phases comprises a first drive phase in which the probe is driven down next to the sidewall followed by a second drive phase in which the probe is driven up next to the sidewall. During one of the sidewall measurement drive phases the probe tip interacts with the sidewall, and the series of sidewall measurements are taken by measuring an angle of the cantilever as the probe tip interacts with the sidewall during the one of the sidewall measurement drive phases.

    Abstract: A pipetting head for a liquid dispensing apparatus is provided. The pipetting head has a pipette tip clamping mechanism and a plunger clamping mechanism. The pipette tip clamping mechanism and the plunger clamping mechanism each include a mounting plate having a plurality of mounts, a clamping plate having a plurality of clamping members each associated with one of the mounts, and a drive mechanism comprising an actuator operable to drive relative movement between the clamping plate and the mounting plate in an axial direction to selectively engage the clamping mechanism. The pipetting head further includes a drive actuator operable to move the plunger clamping mechanism in the axial direction towards or away from the plates of the pipette tip clamping mechanism to aspirate or dispense liquid during use. The method comprises generating a dataset associated with the molecule by: a) providing a representation of the molecule, the representation comprising a plurality of elements in a three-dimensional arrangement, each element comprising one or more atoms; b) surrounding the representation with a multifaceted shape, the multifaceted shape comprising a plurality of facets, the representation having a position within the multifaceted shape; c) projecting each element of the representation onto one of the facets; and d) using an encoding algorithm to generate a dataset based on the projection of step c). The method also comprising generating a further dataset associated with the molecule by at least one of: (i) performing repeats of steps a)-d), wherein different isotopes of the atoms are provided in the repeat of step a) and the repeat of step d) generates the further dataset associated with the molecule; (ii) performing repeats of steps a)- d), wherein a different three-dimensional arrangement is provided in the repeat of step a) and the repeat of step d) generates the further dataset associated with the molecule; (iii) performing repeats of steps b)-d), wherein a different position is specified in the repeat of step b) and the repeat of step d) generates the further dataset associated with the molecule; and, (iv) performing a repeat of step d), wherein a different encoding algorithm is used in the repeat of step d) and the repeat of step d) generates the further dataset associated with the molecule. The generated dataset can be used for training a ML algorithm and also for predicting a property of a molecule.

    Abstract: A stator for an electrical machine is disclosed which includes a stator core having a plurality of teeth extending longitudinally in a direction of a longitudinal axis of the stator. The teeth define a plurality of slots to receive windings of the stator.     Abstract: A backshell is disclosed, which is configured to be connected to an electrical connector. The backshell includes a backshell body configured to receive a cable connectable with the electrical connector. The backshell also includes a fixed tail portion extending from the backshell body. The fixed tail portion provides a plurality of different connection positions spaced along a curved exit path extending from the backshell body. A fastening component can be connected to the fixed tail portion to retain the cable to the fixed tail portion at one of the plurality of different connection positions. The connection positions include fastening component engagement means, configured to retain the fastening component in position longitudinally with respect to the curved exit path. Connection of the fastening component at the different respective connection positions guides the cable from the fixed tail portion at different respective exit angles.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods, systems, electronic devices and computer programs to enable the execution of instructions using any of two or more different distributed ledgers. The disclosure includes a computer implemented method for executing instructions that are issued via any of two or more different distributed ledgers, where the method includes monitoring a plurality of distributed ledgers for distributed ledger transactions comprising an instruction to be executed; identifying a first plurality of distributed ledger transactions, each appearing on any of the plurality of distributed ledgers, wherein each of the first plurality of distributed ledger transactions comprises an instruction to be executed; verifying at least some of the first plurality of instructions in the identified first plurality of distributed ledger transactions; and for each of the first plurality of instructions that is positively verified, executing the instruction; and storing, in an electronic data record, a result of the executed instruction. This may enable, for example, a user to issue instructions on two or more different distributed ledgers, with those instructions being executed securely and consistently, and any user data associated with the executed instructions updated consistently and reliably, regardless of the distributed ledger on which each instruction is issued.
