Abstract: A welding method for butt-welding a first base material (1) and a second base material (2) in order to make it possible to stably and efficiently form a fillet weld-shaped bead also on the back side of a groove by arc welding from the groove side without providing a bead on the back side of the groove in advance, comprising the steps of abutting, against the root face (1a) of a first member (1) formed with a root face (1a) and a one-side grooved surface (1b), the flat surface (2a) of the second base material (2), facing a welding wire (6) with a groove formed by abutment between the first and second base materials (1, 2), melting the abutted portions, etc. of the first and second base materials (1, 2) by the arc of the welding wire (6), extruding the melt formed by the welding of the abutted portions, etc. to the back side of the groove so as to form a fillet weld-shaped bead (B4).

Abstract: A lead frame machining method and a lead frame machining apparatus which can process easily and at a high speed a very small lead frame, can improve dimensional ;precision and quality after machining and can moreover accomplish mass-production at a low cost. When a metallic plate 1101 is machined by irradiation of a laser beam, a laser beam 1011 generated in a pulse-like form and having a round sectional shape is converted to a slender laser beam 1012 having an elliptic sectional shape by a beam section converter 1020, and the section of the laser beam 1012 is caused to turn on its own axis by a beam rotation device 1030 so that the :Longitudinal direction of the section of the laser beam 1012 is in conformity with the longitudinal direction of an inner lead 1013 and the optical axis of the laser beam 1015 is turned around along concentric paths 161 to 174 having the original optical axis at the time of generation of the laser beam 1011 as the center. A laser beam 3011 generated in the pulse form and having a round section is converted to a slender laser beam 3012 having a elliptic section by a beam section converter 3020, and the section of the laser beam 3012 is caused to turn on its own axis by a beam rotation device 3030 so that the longitudinal direction of the section of the laser beam 3012 is in conformity with that of the inner lead 1013, and the optical axis of the laser beam 3014 is moved along a large number of rectangular paths 191 to 198 sharing the point of intersection of diagonals with one another and having relative sides which are parallel to and equidistantly apart from one another. Accordingly, a large number of inner leads 1013 extending radially and linearly can be formed.
