Abstract: A low power ultrasound system for use in sonography applications, including vascular imaging, is disclosed. In one embodiment, the low power ultrasound system comprises a base unit that includes an image processor and a display. An ultrasound probe is operably connected to the base unit. The probe includes a head portion including an array of crystal transducers. A plurality of pulser/receiver modules that cause the transducers to emit ultrasonic transmit pulses are also included in the probe. The pulser/receiver modules are further configured to receive analog signals relating to ultrasonic echo receive pulses detected by the transducers. The probe includes a singular low noise amplifier that amplifies the analog signals, and an analog-to-digital converter that converts the analog signals to a digital signal. A wireless interface is included for enabling the digital signal to be wirelessly transmitted from the probe to the image processor of the base unit.

Abstract: To overcome shortcomings of the prior art, the subject invention is provided which includes various dropper bottle designs and dropper bottle assemblies including accessories for dropper bottles. More specifically, certain embodiments use devices (10, 300) to restrict the amount the dropper bottle (12) is deformed in administering a dose; other embodiments rely on mechanical reduction of interior volume (without deformation of the dropper bottle (12) to administer a dose, such as with a displaceable piston (500, 602); and, yet, a further embodiment provides a valuing arrangement (402, 404) to limit a dose. Features (200) are also included which aid in the alignment of the dropper bottle's nozzle to the eye, and a feature (102) is provided for protecting the user's eye from potential damage which can occur if a pointed nozzle (104) is brought into contact with the eye during alignment.

Abstract: A nozzle is provided herein for ophthalmic dispensers which is configured to accommodate microdosing. The nozzle includes a converging pathway. Preferably, the pathway converges so as to impart momentum to liquid passing therethrough through an increase of velocity. A tapered portion may be provided flared openly from the inlet to best accept liquid flow thereinto and provide a funneling effect into the flowpath. Preferably, the flowpath terminates at an outlet which is internally un-radiused and circumscribed by a chamfered surface.

Abstract: Several different features are provided for use with a pump, particularly a microdispensing pump. In a first aspect of the subject invention, latch fingers (30) are provided which coact with a stop member (46) to yieldingly inhibit movement of an actuator (38) of the pump (10) to ensure sufficient momentum. is provided to the pump for actuation. Abstract: Pump system provided with either a valve stem (42 or a piston (42’), either having a constant-diameter stroke portion (82, 116) interposed between reduced-diameter portions. At least one stationary sealing member (32, 32’) immovably affixed to a pump body (14, 14’) is also provided formed to sealingly engage the stroke portion of the valve stem or the piston. The sealing member is also formed to not engage the reduced-diameter portions. As such, the volume of the administered dose is controlled by the stroke length, which, in turn, is a function of the dimensioning of the constant-diameter stroke portion and the dimensioning of the sealing member. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a minimal number of tolerances can be implicated in controlling dosing volume.

Abstract: With the subject invention, a pump (100) is formed that generally includes a reservoir (128) formed to accommodate at least one fluid dose, and a fluid-collecting chamber (136) in fluid communication with a reservoir (128). The fluid-collecting chamber (136) includes a dose-control portion (138) which encompasses a volume defined by two dimensions. A first piston (106) is disposed to urge fluid from the reservoir (128) and at least into the dose-control portion (138). A second piston (154) is dispensed to reversibly slide within at least the dose-control portion (138) of the fluid-collecting chamber (136). Abstract: With the subject invention, a pump (100) may be formed that generally includes a reservoir (112) formed to accommodate at least one fluid dose, and a fluid-collecting chamber (114) in communication with the reservoir. The fluid-collecting chamber is located such that fluid from the reservoir is fed thereinto, preferably gravitationally. A sterilizable light transmissive surgical instrument support may be also provided to be disposed over at least a portion of the light transmissive pane. Advantageously, with, the subject invention, an assembly is provided which includes a sterilized surface for supporting surgical instruments which is backlit.
