Abstract:
A method of separating a metal organic framework (MOF) from a solution and associated apparatus. The method comprises: providing a MOF containing solution; contacting the MOF containing solution with an acoustic reflector surface such that, any high frequency ultrasound applied within the MOF containing solution reflects off the acoustic reflector surface; and applying a high frequency ultrasound of at least 20 kHz to the MOF containing solution. The MOF material is substantially separated from solution as aggregated sediment that settles out of solution.
Abstract:
The present application relates to animal feed and feed supplements comprising red marine macroalgae species. The present application also relates to methods of reducing total gas production and/or methane production in a ruminant animal by administering red marine macroalgae species, or by administering feed or feed supplements comprising red marine macroalgae.
Abstract:
The invention provides a lithium-sulfur electric current producing cell comprising an anode; electrolyte; and cathode, where the cathode comprises a polymer-sulfur composite comprising: 5 to 80 wt% sulfur; 0 to 90 wt% conductive polymer; 0 to 50 wt% of one or more conductive agents, other than the conductive polymer; and 0.5 to 20 wt% a first dopant comprising a negatively charged organic polymer; wherein the conductive polymer is doped with the first dopant.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to modifying the characteristics of carbonate reservoirs producing oil and/or gas. Specifically, there is disclosed herein a method of treating a subterranean hydrocarbon reservoir comprising a carbonate containing substrate, a composition to treat subterranean hydrocarbon reservoir comprising a carbonate containing substrate, a sample taken from a subterranean hydrocarbon reservoir comprising a carbonate containing substrate and the treatment composition, and a subterranean hydrocarbon reservoir comprising a carbonate containing substrate and the treatment composition.
Abstract:
Proteins that bind to IGF-II and/or IGF-IIE and methods of using such proteins are described. Also disclosed are new methods for treatment of cancer. Cancer is treated by administration of an IGF-II/IGF-IIE binding protein and an additional therapy such as a growth hormone/growth hormone releasing hormone pathway modulator or epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitor.
Abstract:
The invention relates to methods for increasing pathogen resistance in plants and decrease the production of mycotoxin in infected plant products by modulation of the polyamine biosynthetic pathways and to plants obtained thereof.
Abstract:
Methods for altering the N-glycosylation pattern of proteins in higher plants are provided. The methods comprise introducing into the plant a recombinant construct that provides for the inhibition of expression of al,3-fucosyltransferase (FucT) and ß 1 ,2-xylosyltransferase (XyIT) in a plant. Use of these constructs to inhibit or suppress expression of both of these enzymes, and isoforms thereof, advantageously provides for the production of endogenous and heterologous proteins having a "humanized" N-glycosylation pattern without impacting plant growth and development. Stably transformed higher plants having this protein N-glycosylation pattern are provided. Glycoprotein compositions, including monoclonal antibody compositions, having substantially homogeneous glycosylation profiles, and which are substantially homogeneous for the GO glycoform, are also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system for the intensive management of animals, the system comprising: animal identification means for identifying individual animals; at least one device for measuring one or more parameters of individual animals; a processor for processing measurements obtained for the one or more parameters, wherein the processed parameter data is used to determine management strategies for individual animals in real-time; and means for implementing management strategies for the animals.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to inorganic-organic hybrids (IOHs), methods for their preparation and their use as fire resistant materials or components of fire resistant materials. More specifically, the invention relates to polyamide fire resistant formulations containing IOHs which have application in the production of fire resistant articles or parts thereof for use in the transportation, building, construction and electrical or optical industries.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a process for preparing a substrate-supported aligned carbon nanotube film including: synthesising a layer of aligned carbon nanotubes on the substrate capable of supporting nanotube growth, applying a layer of a second substrate to a top surface of aligned carbon nanotube layer, removing said substrate capable of supporting nanotube growth to provide an aligned carbon nanotube film supported on said second substrate.
