Abstract: The busbar has a planar portion and multiple blisters that project from it. The blisters have a beam-like structure and provide structural rigidity to the busbar. When the ends of the blisters are connected to the terminals of the cells in the battery, the battery assembly is provided with structural strength. The busbars may be arranged side-by-side or in layers. When in layers, the blisters of upper busbars project through holes in lower busbars. Busbar assemblies may include insulating spacers, insulating layers or venting features. By using the busbar as a structural member, the required strength and weight of the remaining components of the battery pack are reduced.

Abstract: A fastening system for attaching a component to the monocoque of a motorcycle. The fastening system promotes a plurality of riding configurations for the motorcycle. When the component is the headstock, the fastening system allows for a change in the rake angle.

Abstract: Force-detecting sensors are installed in a motorcycle's handlebars, footpegs and seat to detect the rider's grip, weight and weight distribution. A control unit interprets the signals from the sensors to determine an attribute of the rider or an intention of the rider to make a manoeuvre. Signals from environmental sensors are used by the control unit to determine whether the intended manoeuvre would endanger the rider, and, if so, the rider is alerted before the manoeuvre is undertaken. The alert is provided before the rider notices the hazard, or before the rider reacts to the hazard. By giving advance warning, of as little as a fraction of a second, a rider is given extra time to avert a potential accident. The control unit also controls settings of the motorcycle during a hazardous state of the motorcycle.

Abstract: A locking system is used to safely immobilize electric motorcycles. The system involves a pin-based locking device that can be activated by the user via a key, remote and/or a switch located on the dashboard of the electric motorcycle. The locking device engages the pin with a component that is rotated by the transmission of the electric motorcycle. When activated, the locking device locks the transmission and prevents the motorcycle from being subjected to unwanted driving wheel rotation.

Abstract: A vehicle is equipped with a docking station for a driver's smart device. The smart device displays engine related and other information to the driver while operating the vehicle. The smart device provides a supplementary screen to the screen installed in the vehicle at manufacture, or acts as an alternative to having a screen installed at manufacture. The docked smart device replaces one or more of the instruments normally present in a vehicle dashboard or motorcycle instrument cluster. The smart device also controls operation of the vehicle.

Abstract: A busbar holder with two busbar trays maintains positive and negative busbars separate and insulated from each other to reduce the chance of accidental short circuits. Cells are located in a frame onto which the busbar holder is mounted. One busbar is located in a bottom tray of the busbar holder. Abstract: A core of the electric motorcycle includes a monocoque that partially encloses a housing for a motor and gearbox. Separate suspension mounts attach to the core, which permits them to be exchanged for other mounts to provide different suspension geometries. A power electronics unit attaches to the front of the monocoque. The shape of the monocoque allows for the proper positioning of the center of gravity of the motorcycle in order to provide a balanced ride.

Abstract: A cell holder made up of a top tray, an intermediate tray and a frame. Cells are placed with minimal force in the frame to stand proud of it. The intermediate tray is placed over the projecting tops of the cells and serves to locate the cells. A busbar in the intermediate tray is connected to one set of terminals. A top tray is placed over the intermediate tray and snap-locked through the intermediate tray to the frame. The snap-lock distance is short. A busbar in the top tray is connected to the other set of terminals. The top tray shields the first busbar. Vents may be included to allow for the escape of hot cell gases in the event of failure.

Abstract: Multiple sensors detect the environment of a motorcycle, including an intersection and a vehicle at the intersection. The direction and speed of both the motorcycle and vehicle are determined and, using these, times are calculated for the motorcycle and vehicle to reach a given point in the intersection. Depending on the times to arrive at the point, a probability of a collision is estimated. The rider of the motorcycle is alerted if there is a considerable probability of a collision, via haptic alert devices.
