A light element includes a translucent shell and a base. The base supports a plurality of LEDs positioned so as to emit a light show through the shell. The device also includes a compartment for receiving and securing a replaceable volatile active cartridge and a heater for enabling the device to effectively emit an active ingredient from the cartridge when the cartridge is secured in the compartment. A white light source is provided in the shell as a source of illumination along with the LEDs. The device can be used as a white light source, for displaying a colored light show, for displaying colored light schemes and for volatile active emission. The device may include an acoustic transducer for producing light and sound shows. The device may also include a light sensor, a motion detector and/or a microphone or acoustic receiver thereby enabling the light and sound show to be dependent upon ambient light intensity, motion detection and/or ambient noise.

A decorative light system includes a base and a portable light device capable of communicating with each other to generate a light show. The system includes a base defining a receptacle and including a microcontroller, a transceiver operably coupled to the microcontroller and adapted to generate a control signal, a first power source operably coupled to the microcontroller, and a user interface operably coupled to the microcontroller and including at least one switch for activating the microcontroller. The portable light device has a lower end sized for removable insertion into the base receptacle and includes a housing having at least a portion formed of a translucent material, a first receiver disposed within the housing and responsive to the control signal transmitted by the base transceiver, a first light source disposed within the housing, operably coupled to the receiver, and adapted to direct light toward the translucent portion of the housintg, and a second power source disposed within the housing and operably coupled to the light source.

The light device includes a housing (232) having at least a translucent portion formed of a translucent material. A first light source (234) is disposed within the housing and is adapted to generate light. A first optical structure (252) is positioned to direct at least a portion of the light from the first light source toward the housing translucent portion, and a second optical structure (256) is positioned between the first light source (234) and the housing translucent portion (232), the second optical structure (256) being adapted to diffuse at least a portion of the light for uniform distribution across the housing translucent portion.

A fragrance sampling display (10) for retail environments is disclosed. The sampling display may include a dock (12) having a removable faceplate (16a) and sidewalls (20a). The dock (12) may include one or more receptacles (14) and one or more scent modules (18), wherein each scent module is associated with and partially inserted into only one of the receptacles. The scent modules may be removably disposed in the corresponding receptacles by retractable cords (22c). Each of the scent modules may include a different volatile active corresponding to a different fragrance product and vent holes (26g) to facilitate passive emission of the associated fragrance. The vent holes may be configured so as to be substantially sealed while the associated scent module is in its respective receptacle.
Abstract:
A control circuit for color changing LED devices with volatile active emissions and hidden input jacks is disclosed. The circuit allows the device to use variously sized power adapters, and a plurality of colored LEDs positioned so as to emit a colored light show. The circuit also includes a volatile active dispenser to control volatile active emission rates. A hidden input jack is also disposed to provide additional power as required. Thus, the circuit provides the combination of illumination and/or ambient light, colored light shows, volatile active emission control, and combinations thereof, within a single standalone device.

A light apparatus includes one or more light pipes and/or diffusers to transfer and/or diffuse light from a few point light sources to a broader area and to other points. A hollow light pipe includes a light transmissive sidewall that encompasses an interior space, which receives and hides control circuitry for the light sources therein. A bottom end surface of the hollow light pipe is disposed adjacent to one or more light sources and transmits the light therefrom over a relatively large, uniform area. A solid core light pipe has a light receiving end and a light dispersion end having a reflective facet therein. The reflective facet includes a depression forming a reflective surface angularly displaced from a longitudinal axis of the solid core light pipe. A light diffuser surrounding a point source of light is adapted to cause the point source to look like a flame. A light apparatus including a hollow light pipe and the solid core light pipe and/or the light diffuser is adapted to provide a plurality of different light effects, including a multi-color light show through the hollow light pipe and a flame flicker effect through the solid core light pipe.
