The message is displayed on the recipient's mobile telephone together with the/each link and the recipient can then select or use the links to reach the websites. In human agent assisted automated voice to text conversion processes several devices and methods are used to improve the speed of conversion while maintaining quality and accuracy. The current invention is an interface tool used between the human agent and the devices used in the voice to text conversion process. In one aspect of the embodiment of the current invention this interface tool is used in the process of entering text into the text file in the conversion process. In another aspect of the current invention, this interface tool is used to review, compare, and edit a previously converted/entered text file against its related audio file. The purpose of the review interface tool not only edits and corrects the previously converted text file but also provides input data to increase the overall predictive capabilities of the system.

A method of managing voice messages using a mobile telephone, comprising the steps of: (a) a graphical user interface (GUI) being opened on the mobile telephone, the GUI individually listing remotely stored voice messages in a menu list, the voice messages being meant for a user of the mobile telephone; (b) enabling the user to select a voice message from the list to initiate playback on the mobile telephone. The present invention hence supplants the current approach of retrieving voice messages (based on listening to various options spoken by a synthetic voice, such as "press (1) to reply", "press (2) to delete", "press (3) to repeat") with a GUI based system; this system individually lists voice messages in a menu list, making it very simple for an end-user to select a message to initiate playback of the voice message.

A spoken message that a user wishes to have converted to a SMS or MMS message is received at a voicemail server and converted to an audio file format; it is then sent or streamed over a wide area network to a voice to text transcription system comprising a network of computers. One of the networked computers plays back the voice message to an operator and the operator intelligently transcribes the actual message from the original voice message by entering the corresponding text message (actually a succinct version of the original voice message, not a verbose word-for-word conversion) into the computer to generate a transcribed text message. The transcribed text message is then sent to the wireless information device from the computer as a SMS or MMS text message. Because human operators are used instead of machine transcription, voicemails are converted accurately, intelligently, appropriately and succinctly into text messages (SMS/MMS).

A network based service manages unanswered calls to telephone numbers. The network picks up the call before it 'fails' ( e.g. hits a busy tone, rings out, phone is off, phone cannot connect); this can be before or upon or shortly after the network decides to terminate ringtone or to not offer any ringtone. The network then plays back an IVR recording giving the option of speaking a text (SMS, MMS, email, IM etc) to the person they were trying to call. So the caller always gets through to something useful and which may also be seen as les formal than ordinary voicemail, and hence more likely to be used.

A link, called an X-Link™ and is placed in a message (SMS, MMS, email etc) that is sent to a user and displayed on their device ( e.g. mobile telephone). When the link is selecte'd by the user, it connects the user's device to a conversion system, enabling the user to speak a reply which is then converted to a text based reply message; the reply message is then sent to the original message sender (and/or another appropriate recipient). This approach enables a text message to be responded to by voice: it is an example of an asymmetric communication. There are many circumstances where this approach is very useful - for example if the message is a SMS and the recipient does not know how to respond using SMS, or is in an environment where it is difficult (perhaps when walking or driving).

A mobile telephone is programmed to allow a user to speak a message which is then automatically converted to text at a remote conversion system and then delivered to the appropriate recipient as text, in which the telephone displays an option to speak a text message which is selected by a first touch action and then the user has to perform no more than two further touch actions to the mobile telephone. The customer experience is therefore one button press to start the process (across any device) one click to select the addressee and the final click should be to end the phone call/recording process. The 'no more than 3 clicks' approach means that the user can send messages in situations where other systems could not be used, such as walking along a street, or in a situation where it's not possible to look at the screen for any length of time.
