Abstract: This invention relates to a paper machine clothing suitable for use in the forming, pressing or drying sections of a paper making machine and has particular reference to paper making machine clothing used in the dryer section of a paper making machine, such as through air drying fabrics, and dryer screens. According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided an article of paper making machine clothing suitable for use in the forming, pressing or drying sections of a paper making machine which article includes a fibre structure characterised in that the fibres of said structure comprise a polyester material having a hindered carboxy group and in that said fibres have a melting point greater than 260°C. The paper machine clothing in accordance with the invention may be used in all sections of the paper making machine and is characterised by much improved hydrolysis resistance.

Abstract: A method of producing a polysaccharide foam is provided. The method comprises mechanically foaming an aqueous solution of a soluble polysaccharide and thereafter reacting the foam to produce stable foam. Typically, the soluble polysaccharide is an alginate, hyaluronate, carrageenans, chitosan or starch.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing an industrial fabric comprising the steps of knitting a first fabric strip portion having two widthwise edges and a width that is narrower than the industrial fabric to the desired length of the industrial fabric, forming the first fabric strip portion into an endless loop by joining the widthwise edges with a CD seam, placing the first fabric strip portion around two rotatably mounted rolls and knitting a second fabric portion to the desired length of the industrial fabric, where knitting of the second fabric portion proceeds along the first edge of the first fabric portion and is a knitted continuation thereof. Alternatively, knitted fabric strips can be joined together in a spiral fashion to create a full width industrial fabric.
